This week on Off The Book Club, we’re diving into the entire House of Devils series by Kayla Edwards and to say this series kept us desperate for answers would be an understatement.

You know that feeling when you’re watching a horror movie and someone starts walking into the basement, and you’re yelling, “No! Don’t do it!”? That was us for approximately 80% of this series.

If you love found family, monsters, magic, secrets, side characters who completely steal the show, and a Darkslayer who would burn down the city for the woman he loves, this series is absolutely for you.

In this episode, we’re breaking down our favorite characters, hot takes, wild theories, and all the moments that left us lovingly questioning Kayla Edwards.

Plus, we’re debuting Listener Lore, a new segment where we spotlight books, authors, bookstores, and bookish creators who deserve a little extra love.

Full Series Spoiler Warning:
This episode contains major spoilers for the entire House of Devils series by Kayla Edwards. And when we say spoilers, we mean everything the biggest reveals, hidden identities, shocking deaths, family secrets, betrayals, character arcs, romantic developments, heartbreaking moments, and ending twists across all four books.

What starts as desert survival quickly spirals into fae politics, cursed magic, and fated mates. We recap Quicksilver and Brimstone in our signature unstructured, slightly chaotic style jumping between favorite moments, hot takes, and theories on Saeris, Kingfisher, lineage, runes, and everything in between.

Fair warning: this is not a neat, orderly recap. We bounce around, we skip details, and we absolutely get distracted where intrusive thoughts win and yes, including a completely unhinged Mount Rushmore of morally questionable men.

If you’ve read the books, you’re in the right place. If not… good luck!!

Spoiler Warning:
Spoilers ahead for Quicksilver & Brimstone (obviously), plus we wander into Crystal Bloom, Fourth Wing, and drop a few names from the Gods & Monsters universe. You’ve been warned!

In Part 2 of our Hunger Games deep dive, we’re tackling the prequels — The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Sunrise on the Reaping. We unpack Snow’s villain era, Lucy Gray’s chaos, and Haymitch’s heartbreaking backstory. There’s betrayal, rebellion, folk songs, and lots of unhinged theorizing.
