After a week hiatus due to being really busy with @5RingsPodcast (My Olympic show http://feeds.feedburner.com/5RingsOlympicPodcast ), I am back just in time to talk preseason tournament! The 2014 Walt Disney Pro Soccer Challenge, live from ESPN World Wide Center of Sports in Orlando, has started yesterday for the Montreal Impact with a 1-0 victory over Fluminense FC U23 out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Montrealers were able to beat the young Brazilians with a rebound goal when Sanna Nyassi, the prettier of the two twins, scored off a deflected Hassoun Camara shot. That is pretty much the whole game report. So in today's show, I talked about the tournament, the teams being a part of it and the weird format of that competition!

I also talked about one thing, the one thing that starts during this tournament and that we will all be talking about during the whole year, the rivalry between MTL and TO. For the occasion, and because it is fitting both historically (the Lynx) and in the present (disney Cup) I have decide to re-nickname TFC to...The Big Bad Wolf, and who is affraid of the big bad wolf? Exactly...;)

After years of just a couple of games here and there, the Montreal Impact announced on Wednesday a partnership with TSN690 to broadcast every game of the Montreal side for the next three years! The play-by-play duties will be shared between Brian Wilde of CTV and Rick Moffat of CJAD and the Morning Show on TSN690. To celebrate this very important news, I had the pleasure to talk with Brian Wilde. He gave me goosebumps, the pure passion and emotion that he brings to the games will be a great match with the supporters atmosphere at home, like on the road! Yes the broadcast team will travel across North America to bring you the best coverage possible! You can also expect the day-to-day coverage of the Impact to grow on the only sports radio in Montreal! So a great day indeed for soccer in Montreal!

It was a great day for soccer down in Miami as well, to commemorate the arrival of David Beckham in the select club of team owners, I had the great pleasure to talk live from South Beach to Kyle McCarthy of Fox Soccer's Inside MLS. He was present at the historical press conference and gave us probably the most glamorous interview in OTW's history! Hey, a one degree of separation to David Beckham on my show,it was a beautiful day indeed!

The training camp is open, the off season is over and the Montreal Impact is the only Major Leeague Soccer team that has not added a new player (academy and SuperDraft excluded). That statement in itself has been the subject of conversation all week long, Matteo Ferrari even said it to the press that in his opinion, if the Impact does not add a piece or two they are in serious trouble of missing the fall dance!

So obviously I talked about that today on the show, is Matteo right? His he saying loudly what the locker room is thinking quietly? Does the Impact really need a few pieces? Will the consistency in the core group of players be a advantage or disadvantage ging forward?

On the second half of the show, I talked to Ludovick Martin @CapitaineSoccer himself, to talk about his new blog for @SoccerQuebec and to obviously to talk about the Impact's training camp.

Good Day, Good Night and welcome to another edition of Off the Woodworkx on RNO. It is with great pleasure that we are back to start 2014 the right way.

After a couple of weeks of non-action in the Impact news department, last week finally brought us something we can sink are teeth in! The SuperDraft Round 1 and 2 was last Thursday out of Philly, the Montreal Impact finally made a move and swapped their draft position with FC Dallas to draft Generation Adidas defender Eric Miller in fifth. In Round 2, Montreal drafted George Malki out of Cal Poly, but to be quite honest, THE news that caught my eye and floored me was the REsigning of Nelson Rivas! all those gambling moves my pay off, hey we never know, but the coming back to bite you in the a&& option seems the more likely to me!

On top of the draft and Rivas, I talked about the Camillo and the Andre Lewis situation in Vancouver! What happened?

In the first ever Lounge segment, and probably the last, I ask myself what type of players should NDS the Gambler target in the present transfer window.

The news we all have been waiting for has finally arrived! Marco Schallibaum is out and Frank Klopas is in! I talked to Scott Fenwick, (@OnTheFire97) of On the Fire Radio out of Chicago, about the former Head Coach and Technical Director of the Chicago Fire. Is the arrival of Klopas an upgrade? What type of coach is the new Montreal manager? What was the weakness of Klopas as a coach? As a Technical Director? Those are all questions Scott and I tried to answer!

In the beginning of the show, I talked about the 21 players who are under cotract and coming back to the club in 2014 and I gave my thoughts on Klopas and Schallibaum and at the end of the show a little Christmas present awaits you!
