In this season's special history episode Josh takes us back to the first major spectator sport in American history: pedestrianism. It all started with a bet on the presidential election 1860 which put Abraham Lincoln in the White House. The loser of the bet had to walk to Washington D.C. for the inauguration, thereby, unwittingly setting of a trend that has continued as a sport to this very day!

Josh and Caleb kick off the podcast's inaugural episode by attending the Helen to the Atlantic Hot Air Balloon Race otherwise known as the race "From the Center of the World to the Edge of the Earth." This is the South’s oldest balloon event and the only long-distance hot air balloon race in the U.S. Taking place annually in June in Helen, Georgia, pilots navigate approximately 225 miles to a finish line along Interstate 95, anywhere between Maine and Miami.

We also learn some important very basic facts about how to record a podcast along the way.

We’re Josh and Caleb, two brothers who investigate unconventional forms of competition. We do some research, watch the sport in person, interview someone involved, and sometimes even jump in to try it for ourselves.

This usually goes poorly.

Both because neither of us are natural athletes.

And because we also have no idea how to do a podcast.

We have a great time making fun of each other, however.

• Like the time Josh’s interview questions kept getting enthusiastically interrupted by hot air balloon blasts,
• The moment my children drove me to the brink of a mental breakdown outside a Buc-ee’s bathroom,
• Or the withering side eye we got for daring to compete with the fastest speed puzzlers in the state of Alabama.
