“I understand your hands are full but seriously? How does someone in their mind think that it was ok to leave the house like that? My thoughts were all over the place. I called the manager and explained the situation. We then grabbed some supplies and gloves to clean up. One of the managers had said "This is nothing compared to what happened the other day. Least this time it was a kid not a grown adult." She then went on to say that a few months back there was a homeless man that came in to poop in one of the isles. He didn't ask for a bathroom, which we do but he didn't ask. He just went somewhere and dumped on the floor!! All I can say is that I am so glad I wasn't there that day.”

Overworked 

Sometimes employers just ask too much of their employees. Its one thing to be efficient, its another to expect the impossible from a single human being. Today, we talk about overworked and overstressed employees, on office horror stories!

“He would find one person to pick on and would continue for a while until the next person would do something to set him off and then that was the newest victim. I was the second victim during this time. We have mostly women in our office and due to the environment, it became very toxic for all of us. Some either turned on each other to find favor with the boss where a few shut down, as I had done. The worst day was when we had our largest number of enrolled students and my work was beyond overloaded. I had a small area, but I had it well organized by dates on when paperwork was turned in. I had piles of work in front of my desk and still expected to help with the phones and lunches and breaks, yet never getting any myself. Being that I was raising my son alone and doing my best trying to make things work to keep my house and a good life for my son, I found it easier to just go along with what was needed and earn that paycheck than to say anything at the time. On this usual hectic and busy day someone needed a form for a student and because I could not get to it at that time, she decided to make a complaint. That is all this boss needed to make me the next victim. He sat me down in his office with the person that made a complaint and yelled at how I didn't like this person and I am unorganized. I replied by saying I have no like or dislike for the person and that it wasn't about not being helpful, it was about me having to stop answering calls and doing my work at that moment.”

“On job is still firmly planted in my memory year later. We were hired to move a family from one city to another with approximately 2 hours’ drive in between. The contract was signed, and we arrived with a deposit paid. We began in the early AM, and I tried to ease my heart attack as our eyes took in how much junk we had to move. The garage was arranged in a pile to the ceiling, approximately 14 feet in height filled with children's toys. When I say pile, I mean it! Nothing was packed in there. We loaded the garage contents, which took most of the time. Upon starting on the house, it was one shock after another approaching a new room. Some things were packed in boxes but covered in sticky substances. The house itself had the potential to be gorgeous if not covered in the thickest layer of dust, crumbs, moldy food, and animal feces I had ever seen. We somehow managed to load up this house while stepping around three extremely obese children who were not monitored by the parents. When snack time arrived for the kids, the mother (who was a nurse) pulled out a massive tray of frozen cheesecake slices. I know that health and diet tend to be prioritized differently when moving but the children's dinner and waistlines possibly suggested it was a regular diet. My heart broke for these kids due to health and living conditions, but I knew it wasn't my place to judge. We continued this move from hell which in total took 20 hours straight to complete.”

 “One day before I left for work, I realized my one of my dogs chewed up my pair of nice, black flat shoes. I found my old pair and threw them on so I wouldn't be late. At work that day one of my managers didn't like the shoes I had on and told me I should buy a new pair. The shoes were a little worn, but by no means did they break the dress code at all. In his words, my shoes were hideous. I told him how my dogs chewed up my other pair and that I would get another pair when I had time. I was working closing that night, so I knew I wouldn't make it to the store after work. The next day I was opening, so again, I did not have time to get another pair. As I was helping a customer, my manager noticed I was wearing my old shoes again. He proceeded to yell at me in front of a customer about my hideous shoes and how I needed a new pair. I stood there in shock that he had the nerve to yell in front of a customer about a pair of shoes. I believe I went to the breakroom and cried after that because it was humiliating. So badly I wanted to tell him that I could get new shoes if I got paid more and had more time to get to a store to buy some. One of the other managers told me later that day that she would talk to him because there was no reason for him to do that, especially in front of a customer.”

“I'll admit he was attractive but very unprofessional. He was a big flirt, and almost immediately after starting he had his sight set on a lady who worked in my area of the center, although he flirted with most of the women there. At first it was just harmless teasing then one day he took off this lady in my areas wedding ring, yes, that's right, they were flirty that day, and he took her hand, slid off her wedding ring and walked off with it. She laughed and had a curious look on her face, went after him and got it back. That's pushing some boundaries, but he, my boss, too, so I just gave him a dirty look and went about my business. She didn’t seem offended, she seemed flattered. One day we were slow; not a lot of donors were coming in, so most of us were hanging out in reception just chatting, then our manager comes up and starts messing with some of the other girls. The lady he took the ring from, he picked up and put her in a trash can, one of those large round gray ones, she was actually stuck in it, and I and some of the nurses in the center had to tip it to get her out. She was red in the face, I'm sure she was embarrassed but still took it in good stride. Turns out they were having an affair”

“The acting manager came over quickly, approached the woman, and told her that she wasn’t allowed to be behind the bar.

“Don’t touch me! Don’t f*cking touch me!” She yells, retreating around a corner of the square.

“I’m not going to touch you,” says the manager, “but you really can’t be back here.”

The woman then reached out for anything that was within grabbing distance, and the first thing her hand closed on was a lidless Tupperware container filled with all of the pub’s freshly washed metal utensils (tongs, measures and things like that). She threw the whole container as hard as she could, maybe at the manager, maybe at nothing in particular.

Everything flew out of the gaping top, turning into a stainless-steel scatter-bomb that broke more wine glasses in one dramatic second than we’d lost in all the months I’d worked there.

Now things were really getting exciting, but a dozen or so broken wine glasses still isn’t the end of the world. The true tragedy is that by throwing the utensils, she’d also uncovered the one item we didn’t keep in the Tupperware for safety reasons.”

How exactly did a boss think it would go when he instructed his nearly all-female staff to “forget about” and not to “mention” the sex-scandal involving its recently re-hired male employee…. That is exactly what we’re about to find out today on Office horror stories!

My boss and the owner of the festival were very cheap when it came to working with our partners. They expected us to give as little as possible, and in return they wanted everything. Most of the performers ever made there was about $15, and some of them had been working for the festival their entire lives! For a lot of performers, the festival is their only source of income. The breaking point for me was when one of the main entertainers was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman on the festival grounds the prior year. My boss, who was friends with this entertainer, told all of us interns (all-female mind you) to not speak of the arrest to anyone in public. She asked us to pretend like it never happened and to stop listening to any news stories about it, even though all of us were terrified since this entertainer had come into the office and talked to us before. After we were told to stay hush about the scandal, I realized it wasn't worth it to stay interning there, and I found a new job right away.

 A simple mistake can turn into an epic tale of betrayal and hate in no time at all. Today on office horror stories, we hear about an office with a major problem with gossip. 

Here’s a preview of the office horror story we will be talking about: “My friend became suspicious about the things she was saying because she knew that my work ethic was nothing like what this crazy woman was saying. It became very scary since the crazy manager could ruin me with her allegations. The thing was that I would never have known if it weren’t for the fact that my friend was getting this information from the woman that my manager was telling. Talk about gossips... I couldn’t do anything about it because my friend was not willing to stand up for me. She was afraid of jeopardizing her job. This went on for so many months, and I would hold myself from saying anything because I knew I couldn’t prove it without backup. I was going to talk to our district manager, but the nutcase beat me to it because I made the mistake of emailing the district manager of a situation I needed to speak to her about. I ended up having to quit because she told our D.M. Another lies about me. I felt defeated since I was known for being reliable, knowledgeable, and responsible, and this woman and her friend decided to get me to quit.”

What do you do when the dentist that you work for, is quite literally the dentist from hell? We’ve all had bad bosses, but this one may take the cake! Its an adventure in non-sterile equipment, health violations, you name it! The dentist from hell, today on office horror stories! 

Here’s a preview of the office horror story we will be talking about: “He would also use the same capsule of Novocain from one patient to the next until they were empty. For the layman, a capsule is a little tube with the Novocain in it, that you would put into the metal holder, with a needle attached. Once you inject a patient using a capsule, there is a little spillback of saliva into the tube, and it is common to find blood in the half-used container.

Between this and the not sterilizing the instruments, is where the HIV comes into play. In honesty, I do not know if he was spreading any diseases that way, but the potential there is HUGE.
He would bring a big bag of raw vegetables in for his lunch every day, which he kept in the spare operatory. He would grab food out of that bag with gloved hands, and then return to work on the patient, back and forth, without changing gloves. He would go to the bathroom with gloves on and come out of the bathroom and return to working on the patient with the same gloves!”
