Chris was born March 4, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Don and Jackie (Greiff) Wells. She graduated from Kirkwood College, received her BA from St Ambrose College and MBA from Iowa Wesleyan College.
She was employed at Sheaffer Pen in Ft. Madison, Burlington Community School District and at the Career Center as a recruiter at the University of Iowa. She founded Fluffybutts Rescue Resort in 2004, which she operated out of Washington and oversaw a team of volunteers, resulting in hundreds of dogs being rescued, rehabilitated and placed in good homes. Chris was also an extremely gifted quilter, turning this skill into a full-time business, designing unique and beautiful pieces and fulfilling high-end custom orders. Her passion for saving animals and quilting was only outmatched by her deep love for her grandchildren and family. She frequently used her crafting abilities to make them special toys and clothing, and she found great joy in spending time with them and being a part of their lives.
Survivors include her father Don Wells of Washington; sons, Kellen (Robyn) Wells-Mangold and children Breyker and Willa of River Falls, WI and Cale Wells-Mangold of Paris, TN; sisters, Carrie Wells of Riverside, IA and Kathy Wells (Chris Bajorek) of Penryn, CA.
She was preceded by her mother Jackie, on November 29, 2021.
