  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers vs San Jose Sharks

The Edmonton Oilers will look to bounce back from their loss in the desert as they welcome the San Jose Sharks to Ice District for a Pacific Division showdown. In the past, this is a matchup that would have Oilersnation nervous. The Sharks have been a Cup contender for the last decade but this year has been a very different story. They currently sit 13th in the Western Conference and have the worst goal differential in the conference at -39. The Oilers should be highly motivated coming off a loss to the Coyotes and tonight's game against the Sharks presents a great opportunity to get back in the win column.

One thing the Oilers have been great at this season is bouncing back from losses. On the year, they are 12-7 when coming off a regulation loss. I expect the Oilers to put forth a very good effort tonight. Head Coach Dave Tippett is going to the blender when it comes to his forward lines as well tonight. There are some interesting combinations and I broke them all down in the Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast (pres. by YEG Burger)!

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers @ Arizona Coyotes

After a pair of very impressive victories over the weekend, the Oilers will head to the desert to face a struggling Arizona Coyotes team. While Edmonton has been rolling as of late, with points in nine of their last ten games, the Coyotes have been quite the opposite with just two wins in their last ten. Edmonton has done well against Arizona so far this season grabbing five of a potential six points. In fact, the Oilers have had their number over the last three years with a record of 8-3-2. With a win tonight, they can extend their lead over the Coyotes to five points.

I speculated on how things could play out and dug into some interesting stats surrounding these two teams in today's Pre Game Podcast (pres. by YEG Burger)! You can download it right here in the article or by heading to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Google Play!

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers @ Calgary Flames

After a big win over the St. Louis Blues, the Oilers will look to avoid a fourth straight loss to the Calgary Flames tonight as they roll into the Saddledome for the fourth Battle of Alberta of the season! The Oilers should be feeling pretty good about themselves after not just beating the defending Stanley Cup Champions, but really outplaying them for the majority of that hockey game. They'll need a similar effort tonight if they want to beat the Flames and continue to stay on top of their provincial rival in the  Pacific Division standings.

The month of January was very kind to the Oilers. Things weren't looking good in December but they started 2020 with a very impressive road trip and are now 7-1-2 in their last ten games. They're getting contributions from every part of their lineup and they're getting solid goaltending that actually looks sustainable.

I gave my big key to tonight's game and broke down the Oilers lineup in today's Pre Game Podcast (pres. by YEG Burger).

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers vs St. Louis Blues

The Oilers hit the ice for their first of two games this weekend as they host the defending Stanley Cup Champions. The Oilers have had a really tough time beating the Blues as of late. In their last five matchups, the Oilers have just one win and it came in a shootout. Despite their tough record against the Blues, there's reason to be somewhat optimistic about this matchup. If you take out empty-net goals, both of their games this season have been decided by one goal and in each of those games, the Oilers came very close to tieing the game up late. Tonight will be interesting.

The Blues will be playing their third of four games in Western Canada tonight. They beat the Flames but lost to the Canucks to start the trip and actually have just one win in their last four games.

The injury bug has hit the Oilers as the team placed both Joakim Nygard (hand) and Kris Russell (concussion) on injured reserve last night. They recalled Tyler Benson and Will Laggesson but due to travel, neither player will draw into the lineup.    I go through the expected lineup and the starting goaltenders in the Pre Game Podcast (pres. by YEG Burger).

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers vs Calgary Flames

After a ten-day hiatus, the Oilers return to the ice tonight and start their sprint to the playoffs with a massive matchup against the Calgary Flames. As expected, there is no shortage of storylines heading into tonight's game. The two points is obviously a priority for both sides with the Oilers currently trailing their provincial rivals by just one point in the Pacific Division standings but there's also the Tkachuk/Kassian beef that has both fan bases buzzing. It should be a wildly entertaining night at Rogers Place.

I dissect some pre-game audio from both sides of the Battle of Alberta and went through tonight's lineups. You can download the podcast, which is presented by YEG Burger, right here in the article or by heading to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Google Play!

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers vs Arizona Coyotes

The Oilers will take to the ice one more time before their long break begins. After today's game against the Coyotes, the Oilers will have ten days off before their next game, which happens to be against the Calgary Flames. Considering how tight the Pacific Division is, Edmonton can't afford to look past this afternoon's game though. This is a massive opportunity for the Oilers.

A win for the Oilers would move them into a tie for the top spot in the Pacific Division while a loss would almost guarantee that they'll be sitting outside of a playoff spot when they return from their time off. They've played the Coyotes pretty well so far this season, winning one game and dropping the other in overtime, and they'll need a good effort tonight if they want to beat Antti Raanta, who is making his first start in over a week. Mike Smith will get the nod for the Oilers after another strong performance on Tuesday against the Nashville Predators.

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers vs Nashville Predators

The Oilers are coming off a wildly successful road trip that saw them snag seven out of a potential ten points. The Oilers are back on home ice and probably feeling pretty good about themselves. They now enter a stretch where they play four rather important games spread out over the next 18 days. It all starts tonight as they welcome the Nashville Predators to Rogers Place.

The Oilers will be without Zack Kassian as he begins serving a two-game suspension, which creates a hole on the team's top line. Head Coach Dave Tippett also has an interesting decision to make when it comes to his starting goaltender tonight. I go through everything you need to know about tonight's matchup on the Oilersnation Pre Game Pod (pres. by YEG Burger).

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers @ Calgary Flames

The Oilers and Flames will go head-to-head tonight in the second 'Battle of Alberta' of the season. These two teams met back on Dec 27th and the Flames thoroughly dominated the game, running the Oilers out of their own building. Tonight, it's all about redemption for Edmonton.

We're about to head out on our bus to Calgary for the Nation Trip so I once again was joined by Baggedmilk on the pod as we broke down tonight's game and told you everything you need to know for the second BOA of the year!

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers @ Montreal Canadiens

Looking to win their third game in a row for the first time since October 18th, the Oilers roll into Montreal tonight to face the struggling Canadiens. These two teams could not be sitting in more opposite spots right now. The Habs have lost seven games in a row heading and their playoff chances appear to be all but dead while the Oilers are coming off two of their most impressive wins of the season and are battling for a playoff spot in a very tight Pacific Division.

I explain more and go in-depth on tonight's matchup in the Pre Game Podcast (pres. by YEG Burger)!

  • Oilersnation Pre Game Podcast - Edmonton Oilers @ Toronto Maple Leafs

After picking up a surprising victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday, the Oilers will look to collect their third win in four games as they roll into the Scotiabank Arena for a matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Edmonton should be a confident group right now, they have picked up at least a point in three straight games, but they'll be in tough tonight. The Leafs are 9-0-1 in their last ten games and are averaging close to five goals a game in that span. On top of that, the Oilers will be playing in a building that they haven't won in since 2010.

This will certainly be a big test for the Oilers, who are currently holding onto a wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Dave Tippett is expected to keep his lineup the same tonight and that includes giving Mike Smith the start.

I broke down that decision and more in the Oilersnation Pre Game Pod (pres. by YEG Burger)!
