(The podcast is available on iTunes, too.)
Cheers! In this podcast we’re talking about all six of “The Thin Man” movies.
It is our New Year’s Eve tradition to watch “The Thin Man” movies. Well, not all six of them. We can barely stay up to midnight, let alone sit through six movies in an evening. On New Year’s Eve, David prepares a fancy meal (this year it was Beef Bourguignon – yum), and we watch at least the first “Thin Man,” possibly “After the Thin Man,” too.
This year, in preparation for New Year’s Eve, we watched all six movies so we could talk about “The Thin Man” on New Year’s Eve instead of watching it. That’s right. We recorded our podcast on New Year’s Eve. That’s dedication, folks!
There are six “Thin Man” movies, including “The Thin Man,” “After The Thin Man,” “Another Thin Man,” “Shadow Of The Thin Man,” “The Thin Man Goes Home” and “Song Of The Thin Man.”
Powell and Loy starred in 16 movies together – not all of them “Thin Man” movies. Another favorite of ours is “The Libeled Lady.”
Up next for “Old Movies, New Beer” we are watching “The Maltese Falcon” three ways, including the 1931 “Maltese Falcon,” “Satan Met A Lady” (1936) starring Bette Davis, and – of course – the 1941 “The Maltese Falcon” with Humphrey Bogart.
Do you have a favorite “Thin Man” movie? Disagree with the order in which we ranked them? Let us know in the comments. Also, we take movie and beer requests.
