Ostomy, Debilitating Back Pain, 5 ER Visits, 2 Hospitalizations and a Cancer Scare

Well, well, well, the question is where has he been? Where has the Old Guy been? Debilitating back pain, two hospitalizations, five ER visits with admissions to the hospital all within the past several weeks, and it started on January 10th. And, quite frankly, with all the drugs that I've been getting in the hospital, the last few weeks are a blur.

For me, it's actually hard to believe that it is coming towards the end of February. That's right, the end of February. It started just kind of innocuously with some lower back pain, which like you and I, well, we all had lower back pain, but this really hurt and it hurt like a motherfucker. It hurt like a motherfucker.

And, I thought, okay. Usually, when I have this thing, it hurts for a day. I go to bed at night and wake up, and it's gone. But no, it's hung on, it's hung on. And, I thought, well, this will get better, this will get better. The next day it doesn't get any better, but what happens is I get some meds from my primary care doctor. Next thing I know I'm in the ER with diverticulitis, and I was never so happy. I was never so happy to get morphine.

This was actually a record in the ER. From the time I walked in the door to the time they were pumping morphine into my body, it was 40 minutes. That's right, 40 minutes. Some sort of record. I'm not excited about that.

And then, it just started a whole series of me going to the ER multiple times, getting all sorts of powerful pain medications intravenously, intramuscular, and some muscle relaxants. All stuff that just really made me lose track of time, and then  I went into the hospital again with another case of diverticulitis and well, they had to do surgery on me.

The surgeon did ostomy, which for those of you that don't know what that means is well, they cut up part of your colon and you get to shit through a bag. But, the bag, well the bag doesn't work so fucking well, and we're still trying to figure it out. My wife is a saint. She is literally cleaning up my shit and I just am forever thankful for her and for what she's doing for me.

But, this whole process is going on. Apparently, I've got to deal with this shit for about another two months. It's been a month since I had the surgery and then they put you back together again, which is not such a great event either to recover from.

I'm still dealing with the lower back pain. I saw a pain doctor who was a prick and I'm going to find another one. Motherfucker didn't wait until I was under anesthesia before he started putting probes in the back of my spine and it hurt like a motherfucker. So, it was all sorts of stuff like that.

But, just to let you know, I'm back and we've got some exciting guests coming on board. I got Randy Sutton from The Wounded Blue who I've had on my program several times. We're going to be talking about the Ottawa police. So, when I saw on TV in Canada and how the peaceful protesters, they're a really, truly peaceful protest were treated by the police that made me wonder how did they get to a  oppressive police state that now exists in Canada. And, we're going to have some other famous people on board too.

Lena Walther is the Honorary Consul of Sweden to Nevada. As a Consul, Lena also promotes the Swedish Model for Combatting Trafficking and primarily reaches out to legislators that can make a difference. Lena opened the Consulate in 2006 and has been very active ever since.

She began her career with the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has had assignments and lived in 10 countries throughout her and her husband’s Diplomatic careers. She moved to Las Vegas in 1997 and has been an entrepreneur since then. Most of her time today is dedicated to Awareness Is Prevention (AIPNV.ORG).

In 2014, she co-founded a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Awareness Is Prevention (AIP), which brings awareness of sex trafficking of minors. Through targeted training programs for school-age children and their parents, and an “Awareness through the Arts” program for vulnerable youth, AIP focuses on the training and education aspect in fighting child sex trafficking.

The organization also arranges training of Law Enforcement agencies as well as Schools and NGO’s. AIP works closely with other non-profit organizations around the US.

During the Pandemic in 2020, AIP was approached by a UK organization, “Internet Protection of Children” (IPOC) who needed a partner in the US. The main focus is to force certain online platforms to adhere to age verification in order to prevent minors from accessing the sites.

Currently, the focus is on “OnlyFans.com”.

Globally, the average cost of a slave is $90. Trafficking primarily involves exploitation which comes in many forms, including; forcing victims into prostitution, subjecting victims to slavery or involuntary servitude, and compelling victims to commit sex acts for the purpose of creating pornography. According to some estimates, approximately 80% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation, and 19% involves labor exploitation.

There are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today. According to the U.S. State Department, 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year. More than 70% are female and half are children

General David Hicks served 30 years as an Air Force fighter pilot and General Officer, retiring as a Brigadier General on the Air Force HQ Staff in the Pentagon.

As the Director of Strategy, Concepts, and Assessments, he led Air Force transformation by developing and synchronizing Air Force Strategy and Strategic Planning efforts and assessing the alignment of planning products with strategic guidance.

General Hicks has commanded at the squadron, group, and wing levels, including two combat command tours leading multinational and multi-service forces.

His duty history includes multiple combat air forces flying assignments, including serving as an instructor and commander at the U.S. Air Force Weapons School. As a command pilot with over 3800 flying hours and over 125 combat missions, he has participated in Operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Resolute Support.

His most recent combat command assignment was as commander of all U.S. and NATO forces tasked with training, advising, and assisting the building of the Afghanistan Air Force.

General Hicks has extensive experience as a Senior Executive Leader with a proven record of leading large organizations through complex challenges and missions and a passion for mentoring future leaders.

He is a Bombardier Global 6000 Pilot and Managing Director at Victory Strategies. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Team 5 Medical Foundation.

OSP Mission

The Operation Sacred Promise (OSP) mission is to honor the service and sacrifice of Afghan Air Force and Army Special Mission Wing warriors and their families by supporting their transition from Afghanistan and helping them build new, productive lives in the United States.

Brian Shul (born 1948) is a Vietnam War-era attack pilot and a retired major in the United States Air Force (USAF).

He flew 212 combat missions and was shot down near the end of the war. He was so badly burned that he was given next to no chance to live. Surviving, he returned to full flight status, flying the SR-71 Blackbird.

Major Shul completed a 20-year career in the Air Force. After 20 years and 5000 hours in fighter jets, Shul retired from the Air Force in 1990 and went on to pursue his writing and photographic interests.

He has written four books on aviation and runs a photo studio in Marysville, California.

Near the end of hostilities in 1973, his T-28 aircraft was shot down in the vicinity of the Cambodian border. Recovery from the burns took several months and15 major operations.

Physicians told him he'd never fly again. Months of physical therapy followed, enabling Shul to eventually pass a flight physical and return to active flying duty.

Post-Vietnam

Two days after being released from the hospital, Shul was back flying Air Force fighter jet aircraft.

Shul volunteered for and was selected to fly the SR-71. This assignment required an astronaut-type physical just to qualify, and Shul passed with no waivers.

Shul's comeback story has been the subject of numerous magazine articles conscious and teaching them how to better survive such incidents.[citation needed.

In addition to running his own photo studio in northern California, he has authored seven books on flying and flight photography.

His first two books (Sled Driver: Flying The World's Fastest Jet and The Untouchables) are about flying the SR-71 Blackbird and give the reader a first-hand account of being in the cockpit of the world's fastest jet.

M. Zuhdi Jasser, M.D., is the son of Syrian immigrants who fled Ba’athist oppression in 1966.
