What is a Subtle body? The etymology of subtle means "not easily understood." "Subtle" is a general term used to describe that which is beyond physical. Teachings across faiths and belief systems suggest that our physical body is not all there is. For example, Yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Naturopathic medicine all work with the "energy body." Science sometimes calls this the "Bio-Field." This body, is considered to be one subtle body. In truth, we have many subtle bodies. In this episode, Melissa Love Glidden returns and drops some serious OMG, introducing us to the Astral Body.
I have long been inspired by Judith Lasater's book, "Living Your Yoga" and appreciated how she applied her yoga practice to every facet of her life. Everything is an opportunity to put our training to the test. Inspired by this book, my next guest is doing just that. She is Living the Yoga through her everyday actions and I had the joy of sitting down with her to talk all things life. She is a master motivator. She is a shaker and definitely a mover. She has an incredible story to share that led her to the practice of yoga and eventually inspired her to start her company b_inspired. She truly embodies her mission, “to empower you to know that anything is possible.” She leads, “Self Ventures” around the globe, offering self-development tools to inspire more to live aligned to purpose. She offers a weekly B_inspired mantra and is a champion for giving back. She leads “Sweat for Service”- a charity event on that benefits our service men and women and heads home every summer to do an inner tubing charity event to honor her late mother who passed away from breast cancer when she was 14. She is also a personal trainer that seamlessly weaves yoga into her weekly high energy fitness classes. Since recording, I did have the joy of taking her Vinyasa class at Corepower and I was delighted and inspired by her presence, sequence, themeing, and harmonium accompanied singing. Please Enjoy this episode with the one and only, inspiring and very mighty Katie_B_Happy.
How do we take our yoga practice off the mat into our everyday lives? Ryan Glidden is back on the show to discuss how we can take our yoga practice and apply it to a soulful growth off the mat. He talks about his philosophy behind, "Attention, Intention and Action."
A fun, unedited conversation with Eugene Kim, co-leader of November project and running enthusiast, Jennifer Ouellette. This episode explores my longtime fascination with the running community. I have had many conversations with people who truly love running. Like, LOVE it. One of the more intriguing conversations I had was with Eugene and Jenn. One a marathon runner and the other an "occasional ultra-marathoner." I invited them on the show to explore this love of theirs and to put some language behind what truly motivates them to run for miles and miles and miles. Interestingly enough, in the weeks since recording this episode, Nike and Headspace teamed up and created an app to inspire people to "run mindfully."
The practice of meditation often gets swept under the yoga postures when the original intention of asana was to help us develop a practice of stillness. Today, we have at least 20 scientifically-validated reasons on the benefits of a meditation practice. These range from boosting your health and happiness to helping us with self-control and changing our brain. In this episode, my friend and colleague, Matt Wood, a San Diego based teacher, offers us a tender perspective on the practice of meditation.
Ryan Glidden with MOSAIC Yoga, The MOSAIC Foundation and author of "Both Sides of The Mat,"(soon to be released) is back on OMG and we are taking a deeper dive into the history of asana, the yogic postures. This is part 3 of my conversation with Melissa Love Glidden from MOSAIC Yoga and The MOSAIC Foundation on the unseen. In this short and sweet episode, Melissa helps bring clarity to these two dimensions that are often confused and muddled together. Melissa offers us insight and tools as to why the spiritual dimension is where all the goodness resides.
A continuation of my conversation with Melissa Love Glidden from MOSAIC Yoga and MOSAIC Collective in which we discuss the more mystical side of yoga- metaphysics, chakras and how we can use them on our path of spiritual growth.
Many consider the practice of yoga to be spiritual. How do we take a spiritual experience and transform it into spiritual growth? On this episode, I am joined by MOSAIC Co-Founder, Melissa Love Glidden who discusses the difference between these two as well as the difference between character/personality development and spiritual development. It is packed full of goodness!
Yoga, in many ways, has been in dialogue with other religious traditions. One needs to look no further than the Yoga Sutras as proof of this ongoing dialogue. In this episode, we ask the intriguing question: can modern yoga be enriched by incorporating other practices and techniques from the world’s religions?
