Jacob got his first revelation while fleeing from his brother Esau. Then a dream on how to multiply the sheep. A wrestling match with the angel of God and survived. Now, manifestation of God and a confirmation of the previous revelation. What he saw in the dream, now he is hearing with his own ears. There is a progressive revelation. That is the test of a true believer.

The classic example of false testimony is the trial of Jesus Christ. They brought forward witnesses to bring false charges so that they can kill him. We also have the story of Ahab taking over Naboth's vineyard using the same idea. However, he did not escape God's judgement. Jezebel was judged by the Lord through his prophet Elijah that dogs will lick her blood. If we bear false witness, God will become our enemy.

The commandment "You shall not commit adultery" is not restrictive but protect both the aggressor and the victim. It has consequences far beyond self, it affects the other in the family and reaches too far affecting people in the community etc. We are dwelling on the most famous of all the Bible stories: David and Bathsheba.
