Du What? Du Loras Radio! I am so thankful for my time at Loras College and Loras College Radio, aka KLCR! So many great memories from that experience. She has a gift of challenging the people around her to be better versions of themselves every single day. We met during the summer of 2014 when she was my camp counselor! Hey friends! Super excited for this episode. We are diving DEEP into the vault of the podcast. This episode was recorded in August of 2020 with my pal Taylor Brooks (aka DJ TB, T. Money, Tater Tot, T. Dawg)! We met in college, and instantly became friends because of our intense love for all things food and basketball! Taylor was a grade ahead of me in school. While at Loras, Taylor was a sports management and business administration major and played four years with the Duhawk Women's Basketball squad. Taylor also had a hand in the LEGENDARY sports business club. Tay then went on to graduate school at Western Illinois University. This episode was recorded just before the second and final year of DJ TB's program began. Our special guest is now working in the community recreation industry on Chicago's north shore. I really do hope to get T. Dawg back on the podcast for another episode because we had an absolute blast recording this. So thankful for this friendship as well. Our friendship is fueled by food, basketball, and goofiness! T. Money is one of THE truest friends I have ever met. Enjoy!

This episode is about 12 years in the making! SO FULL CIRCLE! I had the chance to interview author/UConn Women's Basketball legend Mel Thomas!!! Mel graduated in 2008, and went on to play a few seasons of pro basketball overseas. She returned to the states to work with Florida Gulf Coast and their women's basketball team! Mel is now balancing being a new mom with coaching basketball, as well as working remotely in marketing and graphic design! Her book Heart of a Husky: Determination, Perseverance, and a Quest for a National Championship is my all time favorite book. It details her senior year with the UConn Huskies, as well as behind the scenes tidbits about being a college athlete. HUGE thanks to Mel for coming on, as well as my grandma and grandpa for introducing me to her book/UConn hoops! GO HUSKIES!!
