April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a campaign that aims to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence in the United States. The initiative was officially declared in 2001 by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC).
