In 1739, Scottish philosopher David Hume set out to chart the nature and limits of human knowledge. He published his theories and findings in what would become one of philosophy’s most influential works, A Treatise of Human Nature. Professor Edward Hall is the Department Chair of Harvard University’s Department of Philosophy. His work focuses on metaphysics and epistemology, overlapping with philosophy of science.
