On Everyday with Tyler & Liam episodes

  • Looking for a second win versus the Flyers

The Edmonton Oilers are looking for their first win streak of the season with a stop in Philadelphia to face the Flyers, as they continue their mini road trip.

The Philadelphia Flyers have had a good start to the season. In the pre-season, many believed the Flyers would be a bottom feeder but they have a 2-1-0 record with wins over the Columbus Blue Jackets and Vancouver Canucks, who beat the Oilers twice to start the year. Travis Konecny is leading the way with three goals and five points in three games. Then between the pipes, the Sherwood Park product, Carter Hart has started all three games and has a 2.35 goals against average along with a 0.922 save percentage.

As for the Oilers, Jack Campbell stood on his head on Tuesday night in a 6-1 win over the Nashville Predators. You could make the argument that his 42-save performance was his best for the Oilers in the regular season. Tonight, Soup gets the nod again. Do you agree with the decision or should Jay Woodcroft have given the net back to Stuart Skinner?

Of course, today's episode of Oilersnation Everyday is a Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre Game Show edition. Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will be around as usual and they will be joined by Jay Downton. The three of them will get you set up for tonight's action against the Flyers. If you have any questions for them, head over to the Oilersnation YouTube Channel, hit subscribe, and leave your thoughts in the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino live chat.

  • Oilers win & Frank Seravalli joins the show

The Edmonton Oilers went into Nashville last night and left with their first two points of the season.

Of course, it was the Mayor of Smashville, Leon Draisaitl, who led the way with a pair of goals and four points on the night. However, while Draisaitl was the headline offensively, it was Jack Campbell who earned the first star of the game in what was one of his best performances in Copper and Blue.

Campbell stopped 42 of 43 shots for his first win of the season. If you watched the game, you will know that Soup was the difference in the opening stages until the Oilers offence woke up. What did you think of Campbell's performance? Let Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin know in the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino live chat. To leave your thoughts in the live chat, make sure you are subscribed to the Oilersnation YouTube channel.

Also, in last night's game, Jay Woodcroft went to the blender after two poor performances against the Vancouver Canucks. He went with the big dogs on the first line, putting Draisaitl with Connor McDavid and Evander Kane. Then, on the second line, Warren Foegele moved up onto a line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman, which Tyler felt the consequences of. The guys will give their thoughts on the new lines heading into the rest of their matchups this week.

Finally, Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff will join the midway through the show for his weekly segment. With Frank, they will discuss the Oilers' start to the season along with other news from around the NHL.

  • The Mattias Ekholm Revenge Game

The Edmonton Oilers are in a surprising position as they head into their third game of the season. Winless, Edmonton take on the Nashville Predators tonight for their second road game of the season.

On Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will preview the action on the ice, along with Michael Gallagher from Nashville Hockey Now. The Predators have a 1-2-0 record to begin their season, with their lone win coming against the Seattle Kraken. Colton Sissons leads the way with three goals in as many games and is quickly followed by Filip Forsberg with three assists. As usual, Nashville's goaltending has been excellent, with Juuse Saros posting a 2.41 GAA and a 0.919 SV%.

Also, tonight, it will be the first time that Mattias Ekholm and Tyson Barrie have played against their former teams since getting traded last spring. Could this possibly lead to a revenge game for each of them?

And, of course, how could we forget about Leon Draisaitl, AKA the Mayor of Smashville. Draisaitl has two games in two games so far this season; however, his record against the Predators is special. The Oilers forward has 22 goals and 35 points in 22 games against Nashville. Can he keep that hot streak alive tonight as the Oilers seek victory?

As always, Tyler and Liam strongly encourage you to interact with them during the show. If you head over to the Oilersnation YouTube and then hit subscribe, you can then leave your thoughts in the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino live chat.

  • Panic Mode?

The Edmonton Oilers start to the regular season has been unexpected. After two games, the Oilers are one of a handful of teams not to win a game yet.

Last Wednesday was a disaster falling 8-1 to the Vancouver Canucks. Then, on Saturday night, Edmonton had an opportunity to redeem themselves against those same Canucks. It was a great start, with Leon Draisaitl scoring within a minute of the puck dropping. Unfortunately, the rest of the night did not go the Oilers way.

A couple of costly errors cost the team two points as they eventually lost 4-3. With that, what have been the most significant issues over the first two games? Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will break down what they have noticed from the early days of the season and what needs to be addressed immediately.

If you want to add something to the conversation, Tyler and Liam encourage you to do so. Head over to the Oilersnation YouTube channel, hit subscribe and leave your thoughts in the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino live chat. From there, the guys can see your comments and add you to the conversation.

Also, on the show, Tyler and Liam will look around the hockey world and fill you in on what's been going down. Auston Matthews has back-to-back hat tricks, but can he get a third tonight? The Anaheim Ducks revealed their new jerseys, and there have been some mixed reviews. Finally, the Ottawa Senators have got off to a great start to the season, but can they maintain it?

You can expect all that and more on today's episode of Oilersnation Everyday.

  • Bouncing back on Saturday night

It has been two days since the Edmonton Oilers got humbled, falling 8-1 to the Vancouver Canucks. Tomorrow night, Connor McDavid and his squad get the opportunity to redeem themselves against those same Canucks down at Rogers Place.

To help give us an in-arena perspective on what happened on Wednesday night, David Quadrelli from Canucks Army will join Oilersnation Everyday with Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin at 12:15. With him, they will review the other side of this matchup, with David giving us some insight into who the Canucks are this season. Along with that, the three of them will look at Saturday's matchup and discuss how this battle will fall.

Heading into Saturday night, should the Edmonton Oilers make any changes? Should Jack Campbell or Stuart Skinner start? If Mattias Ekholm isn't healthy, should the blueline stay the same? Finally, should Jay Woodcroft mix up the forward lines after only one game? Tyler and Liam will answer all those questions on today's show live at noon.

Towards the end of the show, the gang will get into some betting talk courtesy of our friends of Betway. Friday night isn't a busy one in the NHL, but Saturday night is loaded with all 32 teams in action. Which games should you be watching? Tyler and Liam will give out their game of the weekend along with where you should be putting your money.

If you want to participate in the conversation, head to the Oilersnation YouTube channel, subscribe, and then drop your message in the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino live chat.

  • What happened last night?

The Edmonton Oilers laid an egg last night, falling 8-1 to the Vancouver Canucks in their season opener.

Leon Draisaitl scored the Oilers lone goal of the game; however, the game was already gone at that point. The Canucks had already scored four goals before the Oilers found the net. Brock Boeser had himself a night for the Canucks, scoring four goals. Conor Garland, Elias Peterson, JT Miller and Dakota Joshua got in on the action, too, with their first goals of the season.

Additionally, after a great pre-season, Jack Campbell was pulled. The decision came after Campbell allowed four goals on 16 shots, but was it really his fault? Stuart Skinner did not come in and shut the door either, allowing four goals, too.

So what happened? There are plenty of questions to be asked about what happened last night, including should the absences of Mattias Ekholm be this noticeable. Is the goaltending good enough? Where was the work ethic from everyone? Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will break it all done on Oilersnation Everyday live at noon. If you want to participate in the conversation, head over to the Oilersnation YouTube channel, hit subscribe, and then drop your message in the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino live chat.

On top of that, Tyler and Liam will take a look around the NHL from last night. Connor Bedard scored the first goal of his career, the Toronto Maple Leafs came from behind to beat the Montreal Canadiens off the back of an Auston Matthews hat trick, and the Calgary Flames paid tribute to Chris Snow.

    The day has finally come!

Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers will hit the ice to take on the Vancouver Canucks for their regular season opener. The puck drops at 8:00 p.m. You can watch with all of us from Oilersnation at Greta Downtown for our season launch party. Tickets are available right now at nationgear.ca.

Since it is officially an Oilers game day, today's edition of Oilersnation Everyday is a Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre-Game show version, which means Jay Downton will make his season debut. Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will join Jay as they set you for tonight's Oilers action.

Also, Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff will join for his weekly hit on today's show. Frank will discuss the Oilers heading into tonight's action, specifically the health of Mattias Ekholm and Brett Kulak. Additionally, the NHL started last night three games on the slate. The guys will talk about those three games with Frank, including the punishment that Brett Howden could face after his hit on Brandon Tanev resulted in a meeting with the Department of Player Safety. And, of course, Connor Bedard's NHL debut will get brought up after he registered his first career point in a 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

  • The Edmonton Oilers roster moves & Carter Hutton joins the show

The NHL is back in action with three games on the slate. Unfortunately, for us Edmonton Oilers fans, we will have to wait one more day before cheering on the Copper and Blue.

Tonight, the world will see Connor Bedard play his first career NHL game,, going up against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. On top of that, the Tampa Bay Lightning go head-to-head with the Nashville Predators and then to close out the night, the LA Kings face the Vegas Golden Knights, the current Stanley Cup champions. Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will preview those three games on this episode of Oilersnation Everyday.

In anticipation of the start of the regular season, the two of them will give their hot takes for the 2023/24 season. They will have three each, and they encourage you to play along at home. Head over to the Oilersnation YouTube channel, hit subscribe, and then interact with Tyler and Liam in the live chat during the show.

Midway through the show, former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton joins them. Hutton played 234 regular season NHL games split between the Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Buffalo Sabres and the Arizona Coyotes. The guys will ask Hutton about his expectations for Jack Campbell and Stuart Skinner as the two of them look to become a more complete tandem. Furthermore, Hutton will join in with his hot takes for the upcoming season.

Finally, Ken Holland made his final roster moves over the weekend, and people were not happy. Raphael Lavoie, Ben Gleason and Lane Pederson were put on waivers and all cleared, but is it the right idea to send them all done? That topic, along with everything else mentioned and more, will be discussed on today's episode of Oilersnation Everyday.

  • Raphael Lavoie shines & Frank Seravalli joins the show

The Edmonton Oilers took it to the Calgary Flames last night, defeating them 7-2 at Rogers Place. Granted, it was a weakened Calgary team going up against an Oilers roster close to full strength. Edmonton got goal contributions from Connor Brown twice, Lane Pederson, Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, and Raphael Lavoie. Between the pipes, Stuart Skinner stopped 18 of 20 shots in his three appearances of the exhibition season.

The biggest storyline coming out of the game was the play of Raphael Lavoie. Last night was hands down his best of the pre-season, which should help him crack the opening night roster. Liam Horrobin was at the game, so he will break down what he saw from the Oilers former second-round pick.

Continuing with the show, Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff joins Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam for his weekly hit. Yesterday, Frank broke the news on his Twitter about the salary cap increase following the board of governors meetings. Also coming from those meetings was the potential addition of more expansion teams joining the NHL, with cities like Houston, Quebec City and Atlanta all being name-dropped. On top of that, Frank will give us the latest updates from around the NHL and your Edmonton Oilers, including the health of Mattias Ekholm and Ryan McLeod.

Yesterday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays season ended after losing two straight games to the Minnesota Twins—a disappointing end to an underwhelming season. Tyler will give his thoughts on the series and the future for the Blue Jays players and its management team.

  • The clock ticks closer to opening night

We are only one week away from puck drop between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena; as the clock ticks closer to the start of the regular season. However, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, the Oilers have a couple more pre-season games ahead of them, starting with the Calgary Flames tonight.

What should fans be looking for in this game? The prominent place to start is that 12th-forward spot. Is tonight the night Raphael Lavoie grabs the spot for himself, or can Adam Erne have something to say about it? Let Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin know your thoughts in the YouTube chat. To interact with the guys throughout the show, subscribe to the Oilersnation YouTube channel.

Ryan Pinder from Flamesnation and Barn Burner joins the show midway through. Last season was a dismal one for the Calgary Flames, but changes this off-season look to have changed the tide down south. Ryan Conroy is the new general manager, and Ryan Huska is the new head coach. Additionally, after news broke over the summer that half the team wanted to leave, rumours have changed due to Conroy's work recruiting his players to stay in Calgary, starting with Mikael Backlund. Today, with Pinder, Tyler and Liam will talk about all that and the expectations of this group, who narrowly missed the postseason in 2023.

Towards the end of the show, we will check in with Tyler about what happened to his Toronto Blue Jays yesterday in game one of their series versus the Minnesota Twins. The Blue Jays get the chance to redeem themselves today, but can they do it?
