It's another exciting installment of On the Cross: NIGHTS!, where we revisit classic episodes to pull back the curtain and show you how the sausage gets made. And boy oh boy sometimes the sausage is long and gross. Fans might recall our March 20th episode "Desert Island Bean with Mandee McKelvey and Tyler Gooch", wherein we joked at length about how long we had been recording. Well that particular recording session went on for over four hours and while we had to edit down the content to a listenable episode there was one conversation that stood out as being almost good (or bad) enough to be it's own episode. So here it is: Nathan's Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Comedian DJ Dangler joins stops by the Devil Heaven studios this week to help Lucas and Nathan with a wordplay-themed crossword puzzle from the New York Times. DJ hits a man over the head with a coffee pot, we throw some serious shade at the Amish, talk high school football, and admit that we all have that dark passenger who kinda enjoys watching a drunk crying girl look for her shoe.
You can find more of DJ at www.djishandsome.com and don't forget to give our show a review on Apple Podcasts or Stitcher or wherever you want. Paint a review on the side of an Applebee's.
We’re back! Comedian Melissa Doran joins Lucas and Nathan in the studio this week for a quick jaunt through the New York Times Crossword Puzzle, and a real authentic New Jersey conversation about pizza and fighting. There’s some stuff in here about midwifery, accidents at the blood bank, and we settle once and for all what the worst addiction is.
In the second round of our Father’s Day celebration our darling daughters join us in the studio, and they’ve got some words for us. Mostly cuss words. There’s also venom pants, we learn about the name of Death’s horse, someone gets called a chicken shit, and there’s an apocalypse of dads, and we clear the air about some sassy kids from school.
It’s a Father’s Day double feature here at On The Cross! Lucas and Nathan’s sons sit in on a New York Times crossword puzzle, and discuss everything from spray tanning to scab eating, saying dagnabbit to emus in the military, and the Ernest P. Worrel personality type test.
Comedian Katlin McFee went to the same high school as Lucas, albeit nearly two decades later. They still find plenty to talk about as they try to solve a "kids" themed crossword puzzle from the New York Times app.
We talk car talk talk, church gossip, who's worse than sex offenders, chill demons, and worm dough.
That’s right folks, sharpen your pencils and get ready because Emilie Parker Strange returns to the Devil Heaven Studios for a Memorial Day weekend bonanza! We’re doing a full-blown New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle. Lucas talks about some recent grooming he had to do, Emilie recalls meeting the recipient of a very prestigious award, and Nathan gets nerd mad and tries to entice some hate mail. Along the way we talk about white cars and indian boys, servicing the customers, Patrick Sways, batarang smuggling, defeating a dog with closeup magic, the Shirley Temple suicide pact, Rockford prices vs. Roquefort prices, the designated drummer rule, gyro meat, and bad cocktails.

It’s the one-year anniversary of On the Cross and we’ve resurrected our original guest! Live from the Devil Heaven studios it’s Eric Sorgel! Eric was the guest on our experimental, never aired pilot episode and we brought him back for a wonderful celebration. Along the way we solve a food-themed crossword puzzle courtesy of the New York Times, and discuss murder behind the paywall, a reverse dracula castle doctine, Wolverine Hulk slash fiction, child perms, Satan flipping out, starter beers, wasted poppers, eschew vs askew, Vonnegut for beginners, and Tim Hortons pooping.
The world is a creepy, paranormal place and Oliver and Nathan are exploring it all: in fiction, in reality, and in their own imaginations. We kinda review the movie Predator, we discuss an event from earlier in the day that was legitimately bizarre and creepy, and then Oliver is sucked into another dimension like some kind of ersatz Mr. Peabody.
Topics discussed include Holk Holgins, the Machete Lady, the grossest aspect of the Predator, an extremely long cord for time travel, Benjamin Franklin’s interesting butt, the boy prince of Twitch, and Tiki Man and Mister Butterfly.
Don’t forget if you love our show please go to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review! We love you and you’re breaking our hearts by not giving us 5 Stars! So do it!
Podcaster, godfather of geek, and friend of the show Brian Barrow returns to help Lucas and Nathan solve a New York Times Crossword Puzzle with a comic theme. Along the way we touch on the new bougie Kroger in town, Brian’s rules for the three items you can judge a restaurant by, who’s doing the show with Kelly Ripa now, the fate of Lucas’s bicycle, and some pee hole fetish chat to round out the show. And if you can’t get enough of Brian’s beautiful tones go check out his own podcast Nerdstalgia over at DNN
Don’t forget to head over to iTunes and leave us a review! Plus we’re on iHeart Radio now. Not sure what that means, but that’s a thing
