On The Edge Podcast with Scott Groves

It's time for another round of SCOTTS THOUGHTS!

Our first topic is taking a deep dive into the Coronavirus information we have out there and why the Delta Variant MAY not be the doom and gloom it's being hyped up to be. Based on the CDC's numbers, it looks like at least 2/3 of us have already had Coronavirus! Check out the video for more.

About 6 years ago, Homelessness in Los Angeles was effectively legalized, providing tents on sidewalks with homesteader rights. This prevented the police from cleaning up these growing camps. New news out of the mayor's office indicates that we may be trying to solve this out-of-control situation!

A lot of people ask why I link to news articles from relatively unkown sources, and I just wanted to let you know why. So much news lately seems to be geared toward having the reader click the almightly like button, and I think it's had an effect on the quality of what were reading. That, and the line between news and opinion has gotten blurrier and blurrier.

I mention Nate The Lawyer, and I think you should check him out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5_QIM67BZJdh9AwZv3soA

Dean Shauger joins us for a great talk about life in the Army, and his political stances as an Anarcho-Humanist. We discuss ROTC in Liberal Colleges, the life of somebody in Basic Training at Fort Riley, how to blow stuff up, Sir Ian Flemming, famous military people, and more about the Army. We also go over social norms of today and maybe why they shouldn't be the norm, social programs, political campaigns, and other topics where we get a fresh new, Non-Democrat, Non-Republican view.

I've been doing a lot of reading and I've got some THOUGHTS!

Our first subject covers a couple of subjects, from Government Contracts driving up Hotel rates in an otherwise dumpy town to over $300 a night, rendering them unaffordable for actual Americans. This ties into another subject about how the USPS is actually LEASING 75% of its offices! Crazy!

We also talk about how 'petty' crime is going pretty much unpunished in Los Angeles, allowing thieves to blatantly walk out of a Ross with a ton of merch, unquestioned while being recorded. What does this mean for crime enforcement in the future? Based on historical records, nothing good.

Governor Newsom is trying his hardest to save California (but mostly himself) by introducing a ton of policies that just don't ultimately make sense. Masks are back in LA, people aren't paying rent or their electricity bills, and then the government is picking up the tab. AKA YOU are picking up the tab.

Finally, we talk about the latest Disney film, Black Widow, and it's lackluster opening weekend box-office. Disney decided to also release it on Disney+ at the same time, as a $30 upcharge. Did this prevent people from going to the theater? Did it prevent fans from watching in the theater and THEN downloading it for $30? I'm not sure releasing movies at home at the same time as their theater release is the best idea, but we'll see.

Ever wonder whats going on in the mind of a motivated 19 year old? I do all the time, so I thought I'd sit down with fellow podcaster Jesus Guillen. We both know each other through Jiu Jitsu and I thought maybe we can sit and have a chat instead of getting my a** handed to me.

Jesus has his own podcast of 2 years called Me Vs Myself.

You can check out his YouTube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC09_BxRnz-6xr3Pe7Hmhm_Q

He's doing a ton of work in creating his ideal future and it's inspiring to talk to him. We talk about College (or lack there-of), making money (of course), politics, social media, addiction, clasism, and more.   Get into the head of America's future with us!

Bob Merlotti Joins us for a FASCINATING Conversation about his background in comedy writing. He has written jokes for famous people like Barak Obama, huge companies like Budweiser, and other things. We go over a cool story about Steve Carrell, Baseball, radio, a guy getting in trouble for --ahem-- something on Zoom, and other cool stuff.

Loan Officer Vanessa Sharp joins us for a great discussion surrounding the world of work being a conservative hispanic female. We talk about her cultural history, living with kids at home, business and success, and being a Trump Supporter.

Vanessa had an exciting Thanksgiving 2020 with her family, we go over political parties like being a libertarian, talking about the future, the state of the housing market, and other random things. We also take it to a ligher note with all the random television and video games her and the kids have been playing.

A wonderful conversation and we can't wait to have Vanessa back!
