Steiner will be in Iowa this week at a training camp for many of the top Olympic hopefuls in women’s freestyle wrestling. Oostendorp is the current head wrestling coach at Coe College. He was an All-American at heavyweight for Iowa in 1992 and 1993. Oostendorp was also a member of the U.S. Greco-Roman World team in 1995.

During the months of August and September the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum will conducted “champions” interviews with champions outside the sport of wrestling.

This week’s show includes a bonus “champion” interview with Mike Ramsey. Ramsey was a member of the “Miracle” hockey team that won at gold medal at the 1980 Olympics. He was the youngest member of the team. Ramsey played in 1070 regular season games in the NHL during his career.

Thompson is an assistant wrestling coach at the University of Northern Iowa. He was an NCAA champion for Nebraska in 1995 and a World bronze medalist in freestyle wrestling in 2005.

Dave Whitsett, professor emeritus at the University of Northern Iowa, will go “On the Mat” this Wednesday, October 5.

Whitsett is a professor emeritus at the University of Northern Iowa. He taught psychology from 1974 through 2001, and worked with the Northern Iowa wrestling team during the 1970s and 1980s. Whitsett co-authored a book called “The Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer."

Burroughs, a two-time NCAA champion for Nebraska, won the 163 pound weight class at this year’s freestyle World Championships. He has not lost a match in 2011.

Marsh is this week’s “champion” interview. He coached Auburn to 12 NCAA swimming titles (seven men’s and five women’s) during his tenure. Marsh also coached 22 Olympians at Auburn.

Steffensmeier was a three-time All-American at the University of Northern Iowa, reaching the NCAA finals at 150 pounds in 1990. He will enter the Northern Iowa Athletic Hall of Fame in October.

Alan Rice, coach of the 1972 Greco-Roman Olympic wrestling team will go “On the Mat” this Wednesday, September 14.

Rice coached the 1972 Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling team. He won double national titles (freestyle and Greco-Roman) in 1956, and placed fifth at the Olympics that year in Greco-Roman. Rice is also the namesake of the Alan and Gloria Rice Greco-Roman Hall of Champions.

The Alan and Gloria Rice Greco-Roman Hall of Champions induction ceremony will take place on the campus of Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on October 1.
