The first installment of our new segment, 10 minutes of history!  This week's 10 Minutes of History focuses on the Declaration of Independence - it's writing, what it means, and a few facts about it.  It's a nice introduction to this fun new segment.

Josh and Kevin start by talking about the Federal Reserve and Trump's new pick for Fed Chair, Jerome Powell.  Next they talk gun control.  When everything is gray and there doesn't seem to be a right answer, stick to an objective standard of law - in the case of the United States this is our Consitution.  Finally, they end with Donald Trump's Tweet of the Week and introduce a new segment, Congress Candidate Spotlight!

The guys discuss Donna Brazile calling out the Clinton campaign for rigging the Democratic primary in her favor by funding the mis-managed DNC's debts. Next they talk tax reform, the new bill going through Congress from the Republicans, and the effectiveness of taxation on corporations.  The main theme of the episode is the lack of adults, of people taking responsibility and accountability for their actions, that are in Washington today.

Kevin and Josh kickoff episode 1 by talking about the Paul Manafort indictment, and discussing lobbying both nationally and internationally.  They then discuss the virtues of the free market, and why it is the best system that we have.  Compassionate conservatism is a central topic throughout this episode.  They end with Donald Trump's tweet of the week!

In the first episode, Josh and Kevin discuss why they wanted to do this podcast, their political beliefs, and the objectives and goals that they have for On the Other Hand.  Their first podcast together, it sets the tone for the show and gives a good insight into how it will run.
