As we close in on the Big Game in Vegas between San Francisco and Kansas City, fans are showing their team pride through Tequila and El Bandido Yankee! KC fans will raise a toast to back-to-back World Championships and bring their legendary home field advantage to the weekend with “The Arrowhead”. Fans from San Francisco are hoping to “Strike Gold” on Sunday for a big win and will have the “Gold Rush” to show a little bling for the Big Game! Recipes for both cocktails listed below so you can make your own to get in the game and “Break Out the Bandido”. 

KANSAS CITY – ‘Arrowhead’
2 oz El Bandido Yankee Blanco
.5 oz Grand Marnier
1 oz Pomegranate Juice
1 oz Lemon Lime Syrup
3 oz Soda Water
Combine all ingredients except soda water in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to chill.
Fill a highball glass with ice. Pour in cold soda water. Strain in contents of cocktail
shaker. Stir. Garnish with a football lime wedge.
Lemon Lime Syrup (how to make)
1/2 cup Lemon Juice
1/2 cup Lime Juice
1 cup Granulated Sugar
Combine ingredients in a small saucepan. Over medium, heat, stir until sugar
dissolves. Continue to simmer until mix reduces slightly. Remove from heat, bottle, and
refrigerate.

SAN FRANCISCO – ‘Bandido Gold Rush’
2 oz El Bandido Yankee Reposado
1 oz Meyer Lemon Juice
1 oz Honey Syrup
Rim a rocks glass with gold dust sugar. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail
shaker with ice. Shake to chill. Fill glass with 2-3 large cubes of ice. Strain in
contents of cocktail shaker. Garnish with a dried lemon wheel.
Honey Syrup
1 part Honey
1 part Water
Stir until combined.

Dan Neal, filling in for John Landecker this evening, is joined by four studio guests for the first half: Jim Bob Morris and Chris Chelios to talk a little hockey, Dan Niss and Apurvah Shah from CNG Chicago to talk about sustainability. Later, Dane is joined by Blockbuster Blake Stubbs to talk movies of 2023 and 2024.

Dane Neal, on his last night of the week filling in for John Landecker, is joined by Tim Shanley to recap the tailgaiting season after the Bears’ last game. Shortly after, Dane is back to promoting Chicago Restaurant Week and gives two restaurants some time to promote themselves. First, we have Rodolfo Cuadros, Chef at Bloom Plant Based Kitchen, one of the top vegetarian options this year. Then we hear from Michelle Durpetti from Gene & Georgetti, a Chicago classic since 1941.
