The first episode of 2021! After spending the greater portion of 2020 in Dallas, Texas waiting out the pandemic Dr Brian King returns to bring in the amazingly talented comedian Mysia Chabert. 

Mysia got her start at an open mic night in Puerto Rico, and almost immediately found herself producing shows and touring with the legendary Puerto Rican comedian Chente Ydrach. From bar rooms to sold out shows, she killed it nightly as she rose to prominence in the Spanish-language comedy scene. After several years, she met comedians Diego Morales, Fernando "Panda" Chacon, and Mike Zaragosa collectively known as the "Vatos Chistosos" and with encouragement from Diego burst into the English comedy scene as someone you need to pay attention to. 

Tango dancer Sarah Bollinger joins Dr Brian in this interview, as does their daughter Alyssa.

It has been several months since the last podcast and in that time the world has experienced the horrible Covid-19 pandemic. In a chain of events that seemed to unfold overnight people were suddenly out of work, travel was restricted, and comedian George Redd Speaks was released from prison. 

That's right, Prison. 

He went from being locked up to living in lockdown. As the world is starting to re-open, I caught up with him at an open mic show he is producing in Lewisville, Texas and he told me all about his comedy career, from his time as an outlaw comedian to funny ex-con.

Wilmington, North Carolina is an awesome city for many reasons. It has a thriving music scene, support of the arts, and great comedy. It is also the home of the Cape Fear Comedy Festival, founded and produced by comedian Matt Ward. I met up with Matt in 2013, just after finding out that I was rejected for the festival, and recorded this interview. It is a great insight into the comedy business and what it takes to be a working comedian.
