'There are indeed multiple non-scientific ways in which we can probe consciousness. A comprehensive understanding may require fundamental changes in perspective. That which is obvious from one perspective may make no sense from another; whilst that which is nonsense suddenly becomes the obvious answer. As we make these shifts, even our sense of what it means to understand might change.'
