In 1997, in the wake of the arrival of Comet Hale-Bopp, 39 individuals took their lives under the belief that the Comet had a spaceship in its tail with extraterrestrials willing to take these wayward souls with them. How did Heaven's Gate form and how did they get to this point? Was Heaven's Gate just a "beard"? Well, probably.  View the Heavens Gate Website here:  https://www.heavensgate.com  THE MERCH:  https://on-wednesdays-we-talk-weird.creator-spring.com   CALL US:  773-59-WEIRD (93473)  People Who Make Stuff  Linktr.ee/PWMS  Follow the Podcast on Twitter:  twitter.com/WednesdaysTalk  Follow Asherz and give her your money:  linktr.ee/ItsAsherz  Follow Pat O:  Linktr.ee/DoctorX2112 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onwednesdayswetalkweird/message

This week, Asherz brings on a special guest. Sam had dated Michael Strouse--A vile human being who was convicted of murdering Ellen "Ellie" Weik. Regardless of having only one convicted murder, Strouse is believed to have killed more and is even guilty of selling what he describes as "tortrure porn videos". Sam was being set up as a potential victim. Hear her story, what it was like being so close to the case, and what life is like after the fact.
