In our bonus segment "Another One," we talk about how certain appearances of idleness may point to a deeper struggle beneath the surface, and how best to identify that in our friends and family.
Make sure to come back every Thursday to join us in a quick look at a special topic not covered in the full episode.

Welcome to One Another, a podcast that seeks to apply biblical principles to our moment-by-moment lives. Hosted by Rev. Josh Squires and Josh Fleming, with special guest Marie Louise Bowers, we will dive into the "Top 10 Sins" that both men and women struggle with in our daily walk with the Lord.
The Book of James commands us in our own Christian life to be "doers of the word" (1:22)--but Laziness is a sin that creeps under the door and eats away at not only our productivity but our spiritual lives, as God's workmanship authored that we would be created for good works (Ephesians 2:10), by which we would show the authenticity of our faith (James 1:22). But idleness is the bane of this spiritual posture--just as "the sluggard says 'there is a lion outside! I shall be killed in the streets!'" (Proverbs 22:13), so our laziness tempts us with no creative end to the excuses it conjures, each less logical yet more alluring than the last.
So join us this week as we dissect this disease of ease, looking to how it rationalizes and reasons with the unguarded mind and how we can shake off this sin which clings so closely to our comfort, instead running "with endurance the race that is set before us" (Hebrews 12:1).

In our bonus segment "Another One," we talk about pride and how it relates to others: is it wrong to be proud of someone else? To take pride in work? Tune in to find out our thoughts and how to rightly say "well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21).

The first sin we have chosen to address is Pride--a powerful deceiver of the human heart. Christ Jesus is to be our light in the darkness (Jn 1:4, 8:12), but pride is "the lamp of the wicked" (Prov 21:4), telling the heart that it needs not the warm light of life--no, the sputtering flame of self will do just fine. It replaces the glory and majesty of God with one's own pale shadow, making a man "wise in his own eyes" (Prov 26:12a), even so far that the wicked will haughtily say "'there is no God'" (Ps 10:4).
As we spend this time with One Another in discussion on the nature and presence of pride, let us strive not only to think less of ourselves, but think of ourselves less (Lewis, Mere Christianity) (2 Cor 10:17-18).

Bonus episode! You like One Another? Well, here's Another One, our exclusive bonus segment every Thursday, where we take a quick look at a special topic not covered in the full episode.
Are we sinners because we sin, or do we sin because we're sinners? In this week's bonus segment, we take a look into total depravity and the nature of humanity from the very beginning.
While the world's perspectives on sin and human nature may change with the cultural tides, the Word of God never changes--and we hope in this series, through scripture and thoughtful discussion, to bring pastoral perspectives on sin, sanctification, and loving God and our neighbor in the midst of it all. With unique viewpoints from counseling, discipleship ministries, theology, and pastoral care, we hope to cover how these sins affect most every stage of life and how we can learn to overcome them in each of our personal walks.
