Teachers everywhere are always excited for summer. However, they are a little nervous too. Why? Not just because we are worried about students reading skills sliding, but their math skills might take a hit too! Many people think having students do school work over the summer is cruel. But, a simple summer math review can help your students from losing crucial skills.

Avoid the summer slide! Research has shown that students who don’t read over the summer lose up to 20% of their reading level. That is up to three months of important skills that they learned during the school year. This makes it twice as hard for students to catch up once the new school year comes around. With the gaps that your students are already trying to overcome, this summer could be critical to their success.
