Chanchal Bhattacharya is a public health veterinarian with the Government of Delhi with a wealth of experiences to share in zoonotic surveillance, animal husbandry, and policy and planning. He shares lessons learned from avian influenza outbreaks in India, interdisciplinary planning for the Indian ABC program for rabies eradication, changes in human Kyasanur forest disease (KFD) infections with climate change, and the need for involvement of other specialties in One Health such as economists, sociologists, and ecologists. Dr. Bhattacharya has graciously offered to serve as a mentor or advisor for students and individuals who are interested in contacting him to learn more about zoonoses and One Health.

Konstantinos Makris is an Associate Professor at the Cyprus International Institute for Environmental and Public Health at the Cyprus University of Technology. He discusses his background in environmental chemistry, his work with the University of Texas San Antonio, and his work starting the water and health laboratory at Harvard University. Dr. Makris is an expert in exposomes and describes the multitude of ways that they can be used in One Health and research, including bridging veterinary medicine, environmental science, and infectious disease.

He is a regional advisor for public health emergencies and One Health with ASEAN and vast experience working with other organizations such as the Ministry Department of Health in the Philippines and the World Health Organization. Nitya is a veterinarian with a specialization in veterinary surgery. She has been working on issues related to development and the environment since 1986. She is one of the founders of Anthra and presently its Director. Her work includes research, training and policy advocacy on different aspects of livestock development, especially on systems of health care as well as planning for gender-sensitive and sustainable ways of farming and livestock rearing.

Monal Daptardar is a veterinarian and One Health Practitioner joining us from India. Early in her career, Monal made a last-minute decision to switch to public health from clinical medicine. She walks us through her experiences in One Health and infectious disease, discussing challenges and needs she has observed including vector and host solutions for zoonotic diseases, the inclusion of additional disciplines in high-level reports such as the World Health Organization’s One Health High-Level Expert Committee Report, and action for Rabies in India.
