What does wisdom say to fear and folly? In these unprecedented times of confusion and anxiety, how would God call us to respond?

Where can hope be found in times such as this? We look to Jesus who, on the night of His death, taught His disciples how to have hope.

This week, we come to the Passover meal. God makes a distinction between His people and those who are with one criteria: trust in the blood of the Lamb.

Pharaoh’s heart only grows harder as the Lord sends more plagues, each growing in intensity. What can we learn from this? The Lord is the God “who is” and does whatever He pleases. Ultimately we are not in control, but God is in absolute control. The best we can do is recognize our need for His mercy and then to ask Him to save us. All of it is meant to point us to so great a savior in Jesus Christ.

Moses and Aaron finally confront Pharaoh under God’s power and promises and an epic battle between the false gods of Egypt and God of Israel begins to unfold. And while the enemy is capable of poor copies, God continues to reveal that He alone has the ultimate power and authority. Only the Lord is worthy of worship.

God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. God’s power is demonstrated more fully precisely because he works in spite of our weaknesses. We need to humble ourselves through repentance and obedience, because of the great love by which we have been loved, and let God’s work and power flow through us. Moses and the Israelites had to learn to fully rely on God's power rather than their own.

The topic of suffering is something we avoid and don't understand. Why is it part of the story that God has written since the beginning of the world? What should we expect and how do we find encouragement when we find ourselves facing ever-increasing suffering?

Worship is the passionate whole self-expression of that which we find most worthy.Worship of God is the fuel of obedience. When we worship God it is easy to obey him, for it is easy to do what one loves. Moses was called to obey God in everything as he returns to Egypt. His obedience is tested along the way.

Whatever God calls us to, He will walk with us through. This is what we learn from Moses’ encounter with God in Exodus 3. We are first called to Jesus and then to make disciples wherever Jesus calls us and He promises to be with us through His Holy Spirit.

Moses’ life is turned upside down as he goes from riches to rags in a matter of days. God had preserved and protected him in Pharaoh’s house but now he finds himself in the middle of a desert in Midian.
