This episode looks at Luke 1:50, “And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.” God’s mercy is everlasting and overflowing to those in right relationship with him. This should evoke thanks and trust in our hearts, as well as a desire for all to be in right relationship with God.

This episode looks at Luke 1:49, “for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.” God is holy—set apart, above all, worthy of praise—and he works great things in holy ways—incomprehensible to human reason. We ask for God to reveal his holiness more and more so that we can magnify him and rejoice in our inner being.

This episode looks at Luke 1:48, “for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;” This verse is about the great reversal of the lowest in society to the highest place of honor. We should imitate her in knowing who we are and knowing our need for God.

This episode looks at Luke 1:47, “and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” God is our Savior, and this fact fills Mary with joy. In both temporal, earthly salvations and in salvation from sin and death for eternity, may God fill us with joy in him.

This episode looks at Luke 1:46, “And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord.” The beginning of Mary’s Magnificat is a call to make much of God in her own soul. May we imitate Mary in this action.

This episode looks at Luke 1:45, “And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” Mary finds happiness and joy in trusting that God will do what he has said he will do. Even when our hearts do not believe something is possible for God, may we continue to trust him and find joy in the process.

This episode looks at Luke 1:44, “For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.” Elizabeth knew whose presence she stood in, and this prompted her to rejoice in humility. May we imitate her commendable example!

This episode looks at Luke 1:43, “And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” Elizabeth immediately recognizes Christ’s divinity, and she is shocked that the God-bearer would visit her. May we be amazed by God’s visitation of us.

This episode looks at Luke 1:42, “and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” May God help us to find joy in his work in and through others—ultimately in and through Christ.

This episode looks at Luke 1:41, “And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb, and she was filled with the Holy Spirit.” May God help us to look for sightings of him in his word, work, and people. When we see him, May we praise him with joy by the Holy Spirit.
