  • #013 I was Bram Stoked to Watch This One! - Dracula (1992) with @celebro

Movieman is on holidays! Please welcome his temporary replacement Sam (Celebro) from TikTok! We break down his favourite film "Bram Stoker's Dracula" Starring Gary Oldman as the titular bad boy! Enjoy!

Directed by the one and only Francis Ford Coppola, Bram Stoker's Dracula was released in 1992 on a $40 mil budget, it went on to gross $216m at the box office. In 92 it soared to the 15th highest grossing film of the year and had an opening weekend of 4mil in the UK with which it beat the record previously held by Tim Burtons Batman Returns! The film features a collection of well known stars with Gary Oldman playing the titular role, Keanu Reeves, Winona Rider and Anthony Hopkins all hanging out on screen. Reviews for this one seem to be pretty mixed, it has a 7.4 on imdb off 216k ratings but a metascore of 57. After watching this film though I can understand and respect its status as a cult classic and personal favourite of many, many people.

  • #011 Let the CatLady In, She Has Brilliant Taste! - Let The Right One In (2008) with @CatLadyJJ

This week the amazing JJ joins us with one of her all time favourite films, pushing Movie Man and Naf to stretch beyond their usual choices with an unconventional romantic horror directed by Tomas Alfredson based on a 2004 novel of the same name.

It was also eventually adapted in a US version titled Let Me In, directed by The Batman's Matt Reeves. Let the right one in runs for just under 2 hours and has a rating of 7.9 on IMDB with 216k ratings and it had little to no trouble finding itself an adoring fan base including JJ.

This is a must see for even the horror avoidant film buff.

We also discuss at length all aspects of the current state of media as we try our hardest to stay on topic.

Rear window the 42nd film by Alfred Hitchcock was released in 1954. On a budget of 1 mil at the time, it made back it budget 37 times which is absolutely insane! It has a score of 8.5 in IMDB from just under 500k reviews and a Metacritic score of 100. Not many films can say the same. It stars James Stewart as Jeff, A wheelchair-bound photographer spying on his neighboiurs from, wait for it, his rear window, and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder, despite being gaslighted by everyone he tells.
