Exceptionally honored to have my personal mentor and coach, David Neagle, join me on my podcast. I’ve always said that great coaches have great coaches for the sake of gaining greater perspective and because of my trust and willingness, David’s guidance has quite literally changed my life. He’s a speaker and highly sought advisor for entrepreneurs, focusing on mindset and business processes, why I found such synergy in working with him. HIs story is nothing short of amazing. I introduced him as a “dead man” and high school drop out (an introduction that probably surprised him). David quit high school at 17 y/o in 1984. A high-school drop out, he worked at McDonald’s, UPS, and a warehouse. He joined the Army and after 1 year came home and got married. With no education or skills, he was invited by a family member to begin selling life insurance. After the bottom dropped out of the market, the bottom dropped out of his business and he found himself floundering a bit. It was during a family vacation that his life changed when he got sucked into a dam, a place where several people had died in previous years. Miraculously, he survived. But… he had a chip on his shoulder and it wasn’t for another couple of years that he hit bottom. Listen in to learn how he bounced back and became the multi-millionaire advisor to entrepreneurs and business leaders. Remember these two things as you listen in: First, act like you love what you do, show up, and do your best. And remember, no one changes without a reason to change. In this episode, Angel Pretot, The Premier French Learning Coach, shares his insights on what it takes to learn. Having grown up in Dijon, France, he moved multiple times and now lives in Vienna, Australia. Angel holds a Masters in French As A Foreign Language. Angel speaks four languages and teaches French to those committed to learning. Learning starts with a belief that you can learn. It’s amazing, because I came face-to-face with a self-limiting belief I didn’t know I had - and I share that here, too. Belief - Can you believe that it’s possible (and fully commit to it)? THIS IS A HUGE CONCEPT!!! Then, create the environmental path. S - Selection - Choose your goals and your why - - what is your foundation and what is your motivation for choosing this as a goal? A - Activation - Recognize that you’ll be on the lookout for what you are becoming aware of. This ignites your Reticular Activation System and enhances your awareness (of how French is all around you) I - Immersion - Put the language around you. Watch YouTube videos and shows in French. S - Safe Practice - Don’t just practice in your head, find a person or community with whom to practice without fear of ridicule Do it in the cracks of your schedule Find more at www.FrenchFluency.net/starterkit Or to set a call with Angel Pretot, visit www.FrenchFluency.net/call Thank you for listening to One Sharp Sword! Having blood drawn recently, I realized I had violated some of my basic rules for engaging with other people. I missed what I call the E-S-N Eye contact - I have no idea what color the phlebotomist’s eyes were Smiling - I was a little too anxious to smile or to get a smile Name - I don’t know what her name was and I forgot to ask When we get anxious or self-absorbed/focused, we forget the basics. It’s because of that, we need to be very deliberate about creating a conscious connection. Enjoy this short episode, I even made a couple of stupid jokes at the beginning. 😃
It takes effort to inflate a balloon and only one bad or sharp edged experience to pop it. Having come off of a cruise not that long ago, I was reflecting on the exceptional customer service we had. And then, at the end, security called me out for having chosen to purchase a bunch while on my travels. The line stopped moving and I felt like a criminal as everyone wanted to see what the issue was. Who was the guy that security was asking to wait? I was the guy security needed to escort to CBP. It sounded so scary, but Customs and Border Patrol just needed to verify my receipts. For them, that’s a normal process. For me, especially because people were staring at me, I found that two weeks of goodwill was gone in an instant as I felt humiliated and angered. You and your team need to remember that everything you do represents your brand. It takes a long time to build a solid, happy, relationship-based experience and only one instant to blow it all. Spend some time here. Think about how you build good will with your family, your friends, and your customers. Don’t let on rogue person stuck in doing her job via a checklist be the reason that you lose customers or blow out a long-earned relationship. I’m not cynical. It’s just this time of year, gratitude seems to feel forced. Personally, I wake up annoyingly perky with “thank you” as the first two words to escape my lips. We don’t need a day for this. We need to decide what or who is in and what or who is out of our circle. Recognize the small stuff. Acknowledge yourself. Take a breath. Celebrate in your own way. I’m grateful for you! It used to be that at gas stations, you could get full service. You’d get your gas pumped and you’d learn about the fluid levels in your car. That doesn’t happen much any more and what’s true is that we don’t pay much attention until we get a service notice or until something goes wrong. Even then, we need to take action to get checked out or to get rejuvenated. And that means, drawing from that analogy, that you need to take action to take care of yourself. Put “get-away” days on your calendar every couple of months. Check in with yourself about your relationships, your finances, your career, and your philanthropy. What could use more attention and what distractions do you need to cut out? It’s time to check under the hood! Nicky Billou (pronounced like Baloo the bear) is a thought leader, business coach, and inspirational speaker. He’s a podcast host and international #1 best selling author. Ultimately, he helps people get out of their own way so that they can value themselves and the work that they do. On our call, you’ll hear him talk about being a Christian from Iran. He reframes sales to being about service and reminds us all to serve others out of suffering. His model is one of Problem - People - Profit and he notes that Business Is A People Game. Nicky challenges us to think about how badly we might want change (though change scares most people). The clients he works with are: Decisive Committed Coachable Resourceful He notes that to boost your earning power, you need to triple (yes triple) your investment in your own personal and professional development. (And I can tell you from personal experience as an elite mindstate coach that this advice is absolutely right. Work on yourself so that your growth allows you to serve more people at a higher level.) You may have recognized that you’re not the same person you were 20 years ago. What matters to you today is different from what mattered, even yesterday.
In this episode, one big question, one core observation, three core tenets, and one thing to repeat show up: Do you know what happens if you don’t step out of your comfort zone?
Absolutely Nothing
Most people spend more time planning their vacation than they do planning who they want to become to have the life they say they really desire.
The three key principles involved in Exponential Success are:
Values - what you had won’t be what’s needed for where you’re going
Vision - get real clarity about where you’re headed (sometimes people need coaches to gain that clarity)
Vitality - get grateful, get happy, and be that beacon of light for others
Life Is Working For Me - repeat that with the emphasis on a different word each time. Say it out loud and listen to yourself as you do!

We all have so much on our plates and to-do lists, that it’s important to keep that question at the forefront of your mind as you take on something new. Will I Do It? Or, might it just feel like something fun to entertain? I have started so many programs and books with the best of intentions and, when it comes down to “will I do it,” the answer is no. No, I won’t actually do it. And when I make that decision, I cut myself free from something that began to feel like an obligation. If the answer is “yes!” then the next question is “when?” - and that means pulling out my calendar and putting THE thing on the calendar in a given time slot that doesn’t compete with anything else. Cool, right? If you’ve got something on your to-do list that’s rolled over multiple times, then either delegate it, do it, or take it off of your list. It’s just that simple! Keep making your magic. See you here next week. Check out http://ExponentialSuccessSummit.com = Wayne =
