  • Kieron Gillen's Die (with John from BFOP) - Day 1 of 31 Days of Horror
Welcome to OCD’s first day of 31 days of horror! Each day for 31 days, Tess is bringing you spooky, fun, and witchy horror comic and comic movie reviews! Today, Tess is joined by John Speas of Blast from Our Past Podcast and Throwback Trivia Takedown to discuss Kieron Gillen’s “Die” volume 1 comic.
THE WICKED + THE DIVINE writer KIERON GILLEN teams up with artist supernova STEPHANIE HANS (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE 1831, Journey Into Mystery) for her first ongoing comic! DIE is a pitch-black fantasy where a group of forty-something adults have to deal with the returning unearthly horror they barely survived as teenage role-players. If Kieron’s in a rush, he describes it as “Goth Jumanji.” That only captures a sliver of what you’ll find in oversized debut issue—where fantasy gets all too real.

  • Watchmen (with Andrew Roos)
Tess and guest co-host, Andrew Roos, jump into the wild world that is Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ “Watchmen.” Let Rorschach be your guide and check out this legendary superhero murder mystery comic review!
This Hugo Award-winning graphic novel chronicles the fall from grace of a group of super-heroes plagued by all-too-human failings. Along the way, the concept of the super-hero is dissected as the heroes are stalked by an unknown assassin. One of the most influential graphic novels of all time and a perennial bestseller, WATCHMEN has been studied on college campuses across the nation and is considered a gateway title, leading readers to other graphic novels such as V FOR VENDETTA, BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and THE SANDMAN series.

  • Invincible: Family Matters (with Android's Amazing Podcast)
This week on the OCD, Tess is joined by Hunter and James of Android’s Amazing Podcast to talk Robert Kirkman’s comic “Invincible: Family Matters!”
Mark Grayson is just like most everyone else his age. He's a senior at a normal American high School. He has a crappy part-time job after school and on weekends. He likes girls quite a bit... but doesn't quite understand them. He enjoys hanging out with his friends, and sleeping late on Saturdays... at least until the good cartoons come on. The only difference between Mark and everyone else is that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, and as of late, he seems to be inheriting his father's powers. Which sounds okay at first, but how do you follow in your father's footsteps when you know you will never live up to his standards? THIS ISSUE: Get in on the ground floor, because it all starts here! Strange things begin to happen to Mark Grayson as he begins to develop superpowers. Luckily, his dad is around to show him the ropes, at least he WOULD be if he weren't so busy saving the world all the time. Mark is forced to go out on his own, and try and figure out how all this superheroing business works. The results are a monumental disaster, at least until he gets the hang of it. Watch Mark thwart thieving super-villains, alien invasions, and all sorts of craziness.
