Ongoing Comicbook Discussion Podcast

Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir: Getting cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi and being rejected by his former Sith Master Darth Sidious isn't going to defeat Darth Maul. In fact, it only makes him mad enough to take on the galaxy - with an army of Mandalorians! After forming the Shadow Collective - a criminal organization composed of the Hutts, Black Sun, the Mandalorians, and the fearsome Nightbrothers - Maul wages war against Darth Sidious and his generals, Count Dooku and General Grievous!

Next up in our month of Star Wars comicbook reviews (May the 4th, y’all!) is Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir! This 4-part story was crafted from unused Clone Wars scripts from season 6 and was a real treat to read for lifelong fans of the show and newcomers alike!

To help us review Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir we’ve enlisted the help of Jack FM DJ and podcast host, Jason Megatron Burrows! And yes, that is his actual middle name! 80’s kids are wild (speaking from experience lol)!

Doctor Aphra Vol. 1: Following her time in the clutches of Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra has barely escaped with her life. If the Dark Lord of the Sith ever learns of her survival, he ll hunt her to the ends of the galaxy. But for now, it s time for a return to what she does best. With droids Triple-Zero and BeeTee-One in tow, she s off in search of rare artifacts from the galactic center to the Outer Rim and everywhere in between. Aphra s got debts to pay, after all. Just as long as she can stay one step ahead of the Empire, some bounty hunters and just about everyone else in the galaxy!

A long time ago in a podcast far, far away… We are celebrating Star Wars Day (May the 4th) by dedicating the whole month to George Lucas’ used universe! We’re starting with Doctor Aphra Vol. 1 and we’re bringing Tim and Dean from Talking Back with us! It seemed only fitting as they were there for our Darth Vader Vol. 1 review, which was the introduction to Doctor Aphra! Clearly, it is the will of the Force!

Deadpool Classic Vol. 2: Collects Deadpool #2-8, -1, & Daredevil/Deadpool Annual 1997. Deadpool's healing factor's down, and the only thing that'll juice it up is a dose of the Incredible Hulk's blood administered by the Weapon X alumnus who helped make Deadpool what he is in the first place! And Deadpool's infatuation with Siryn is challenged by Typhoid Mary!

WARNING: Our first explicit episode!

This week on the OCD Podcast Tess and Corey are joined by Adam Speas of the Blast From Our Past podcast to discuss all things Deadpool! Adam’s passion for the character is apparent right from the beginning, and his love really helps to elevate these early stories for our two hosts (who’s only experience with Wade Wilson is the Ryan Reynolds movies)!

Aliens: Defiance Vol. 1: Battling demons from her past while fighting for her life, Colonial Marine Private First Class Zula Hendricks, in the company of Weyland-Yutani synthetics, is forced to question her strength and loyalty when the discovery of an insidious alien species on a derelict hauler sends her on a dangerous journey across the stars.

This is a monumental episode for the Ongoing Comicbook Discussion Podcast! Not only did Tess watch ALIEN (1979) for the first time before reviewing ALIENS: DEFIANCE Vol. 1, but she also watched ALIENS (1986) in the same day! That’s right, 5 hours of Xenomorph action straight to her brain!

Needless to say, Corey had a blast hearing what Tess thought of his favorite movie (ALIENS) as well as the comic! This is a super fun discussion just in time for Aliens Day (4/26… because LV-426)

Colder Vol 1 : Declan Thomas is an ex-inmate of an insane asylum that was destroyed in a fire, he has the strange ability to step inside a person's madness-and sometimes cure it. He hopes to one day cure his own, but time is running out, as a demonic predator pursues him. Collects the five-issue miniseries. From the Eisner nominated writer of Bandette.

Due to some unfortunate life stuff, Corey wasn’t able to join Tess this week as she discussed “Colder” Vol. 1 with Hunter of Android’s Amazing Podcast. It’s a shame too because he had some serious thoughts on the book. He’ll just how to shout them into the void now lol!

Lack of co-host aside, this was a super fun episode! Let us know what you think of it on our social media channels!

Darth Vader Vol 1 : “Follow Vader straight from the ending of A NEW HOPE into his own solo adventures – showing the Empire's war with the Rebel Alliance from the other side! But when a Dark Lord needs help, who can he turn to? This week on the OCD Podcast, Corey is joined by Tim and Dean of Talking Back podcast to talk about Marvel’s Darth Vader Vol 1 while Tess is on a brief hiatus.
