Mia discusses the importance of sustainability for their family rice farm, the challenges of opening consumers minds to rice whiskey, and even the personality traits of whiskey barrels. As we catch up with the guys we sit down and sample a bottle we have been dying to try. Coming out of Omaha Nebraska, this blended bottle is from the work of David Mark Young. Here is a list of some facts about the brand from DMY himself. Here’s a few off the top of my head:

-born is 1866

-grew to become 3rd largest distillery in the country pre-prohibition

- produced 13k gal daily

-generated 90%+ state tax revenue pre-income tax. Responsible for a lot of Omaha/Nebraska infrastructure and growth which is not a well known fact

-shut down in 1920 dispute being 1 of 8 distilleries invited to continue distilling for medicinal purposes. Declined because they had already pivoted to cattle (Omaha Stock Yards).

- revived in 2020 by this guy 😎
