Expect the unexpected and explore ‘The Abyss’ in this special episode of ‘Oonops Drops’ on Brooklyn Radio. One of Oonops’ first mixtapes ‘Nightmare On Beatstreet’ inspired him to do this remake with even more mysterious and gloomy music. It’s like an overlength mixed soundtrack chock full of unease and uncertain feelings. He teamed up with dj and producer Smoove from the UK (Wack Records, Jalapeno) and his homie Skaetch (Daily Concept) who round off the whole show with their own interpretations of this topic. His two guests in this month’s show are Björn Wagner – head honcho of the lovely Mocambo Records label – who did a little funk’n’soul showcase of Mocambo 45s with sample-flips, versions, previously unreleased and classic tracks. Next guest is DJ Gilla from the UK – label boss of First Word Records – with a beautiful selection out of his crates. But before Oonops starts the show with music for the open minded audience including a hot vinyl selection of dub, afro, indie and spiritual sounds. Oonops starts the first part of his show with some shaolin inspired soul, jazz and hip hop vinyl choons before High Ku of Chinese Man enters the 36th chamber for showing his skills and techniques. Oonops invites his mates DJ Alfredo from Italy and Satenga with whom he runs a bi-monthly vinyl only club night at the magnificent Calamari Moon Suite in Hanover. Oonops starts the show with a fresh combination of 60s, 70s and todays sounds straight from his latin vinyl section. DJ Alfredo and Satenga tie up with an insane back-to-back wildstyle set of pure latin heat. Alfredo Maddaloni’s selections (all on original first presses) embrace a large spectrum of styles and rhythms, but all the music he spins is rooted in the afro-american cultural heritage. Satenga, collector and DJ hails from Hannover, Germany where he´s running the famous club night Studio45 at Bronco´s Bar. Expect two great exclusive guest mixes: the first is by Boca 45 from the UK – the man behind 45Live and who is also known for his project Dynamo Productions with DJ Andy Smith. Furthermore he did the opening set for Banksy’s Dismaland and now he smashes some heavy music from hip hop to funk in this mix. Oonops’ next guest is Breakin Bread artist Kazahaya from Japan who drops some lovely soul tunes and exclusive new releases in his part.
