Gratitude can remain a private feeling, but thanksgiving gives it a direction. Psalm 100 grounds thanks in knowing God as Creator, Shepherd, and the good Father whose steadfast love never fails His people. Through Jesus' blood, sinners may draw near to God with clean hearts and full assurance. It brings a restful heart that has nothing to prove. Thanksgiving then becomes an active choice: gathering, singing, serving gladly, and expressing delight until the enjoyment of God is complete.

Every honest person knows the struggle to resist sin, yet no human being can claim to have defeated Satan. No one wins that battle without God’s intervention. Genesis 3:15 promises that Eve’s offspring will suffer the serpent’s strike and finally crush his head. Jesus fulfils that promise through His death and resurrection, silencing the accuser and securing God’s kingdom. His people share His victory through the Lamb’s blood and their testimony of faith, resisting sin now while awaiting the victory’s full extent.

Paul reaches Rome in chains, yet people come to his home to hear about Jesus. His legal case remains unresolved. From morning till evening, Paul uses Moses and the prophets to persuade his Jewish visitors that Jesus is Israel's promised hope. Acts closes with God's kingdom proclaimed boldly and without hindrance, showing that the church participates while God controls salvation and directs His people by His Spirit. Resistance is normal, so Christians can pray, work and witness with courage as God gathers His people through the good news of Jesus.

Death looks final, and Paul spends two years imprisoned for declaring that Jesus died and is alive. That claim stands at the centre of Christian hope. Jesus’ resurrection displays God’s power, confirms Jesus as Lord, secures forgiveness, gives believers new life now and promises life beyond death. The risen Jesus also rules as judge over everyone. Christians therefore believe in His physical resurrection and tell others that hope rests on what Jesus has done.

Personal stories make Christ's saving work concrete, while love keeps looking for opportunities to speak about His grace.

Church leadership often meets deep suspicion when leaders abuse power or hide serious sin. Yet Paul charges elders to care for the church Jesus bought with His blood, guarding both the flock and their own lives. This is good work. Elders invest in people, keep the gospel clear, and protect the church from false teaching. Men who love Christ, His people, and His truth should develop character worthy of respect and thoughtfully aspire to serve, while the church remains willing to be led.

When people in Ephesus turned from handmade gods to Jesus, an idol-making business and the city’s identity came under threat. Their angry riot shows how fiercely people defend whatever supplies meaning, security, or satisfaction. Even good gifts can take God’s place. People were made to worship, so idols cannot simply be switched off. They must be named, rejected, and replaced by joy in Christ, whose cross brings reconciliation with God and adoption into His family.

A demon-possessed man overpowers seven men who try to use Jesus' name as a magical formula. Yet the demon's personal knowledge of Jesus exposes the authority behind that name, while the imitators have no bond with Him. As Paul preaches and God works through him, many in Ephesus confess their practices and burn costly magic books. Jesus crushed sin and Satan through His death and resurrection. His people can reject occult powers, trust His protection, and pray for the gospel to prevail.

On the night before the cross, Jesus prays that the Father will glorify Him so that He may glorify the Father. His suffering is not a defeat or accident, but the completion of God's long-planned work to save His people. At the cross, Jesus carries sinners' guilt and gives eternal life to all the Father has given Him. This gives firm comfort when life falls apart. Those who belong to Christ can glorify God through faith, enjoy Him now, and rest in His unbreakable love.

An altar to an unknown god exposed Athens' spiritual hunger and confusion. God has not stayed distant or hidden. He made and sustains the world, and human beings bear His image, yet sin turns their creative gifts towards gods of their own making. In Jesus, God came near, died for human sin, rose again, and will judge fairly. Knowing God therefore requires repentance, faith in Christ, and the abandonment of false gods that cannot satisfy.
