Saul travels to Damascus intending to arrest Christians, confident in his religious record and fiercely opposed to Jesus. Jesus stops him, blinds him, and appoints him to carry His name to others. Grace begins with God, not human desire or goodness. Saul's grief over sin and changed direction show that salvation brings conviction and repentance. Because Jesus bore sin's punishment, forgiveness and eternal life are offered to those who stop trusting themselves and trust Him.

The Philippian jailer expects death when an earthquake opens the prison, but Paul stops him from taking his own life. He asks how to be saved and hears the simple answer: believe in the Lord Jesus. This rescue saves people from God’s judgement and into His kingdom, where baptism marks their place in the visible family of the church.

Some Christians insisted that non-Jewish believers must be circumcised and keep Moses' law to be saved. The Jerusalem meeting settles the issue. Jews and non-Jews are saved through the grace of Jesus by faith, not law-keeping. God had already given both groups the Holy Spirit, while the prophets showed that non-Jews had always been included in His plan. Grace leaves no room for pride; Christians must reject extra conditions, forsake rival worship, and protect fellowship across real differences.

Some prayers seem to end in silence: James is executed, while Peter is rescued from a heavily guarded prison as the church prays. Their different outcomes do not reflect different levels of faith; God had different futures for two faithful men. The reason for James's early death remains unknown. Yet God chooses to heal, protect and save in response to prayer, so disappointment should not silence prayer. Even when all seems lost, His people can ask with confidence because His plans cannot fail.

Busy service can miss the King’s will. David receives Israel’s recognition, acts on his God-given drive, and learns that God established him as king for His people’s sake. Christians do not share David’s unique anointing; God shapes their ambition through His Word and confirms their gifts through others. Jesus completes this vision as the perfect servant king, laying down His life for His sheep and giving His people a kingdom worth building.

Stephen stands before Israel’s religious rulers, but instead of defending himself, he exposes their long history of rejecting God’s messengers. Abraham, Joseph and Moses show that God remained faithful while His people resisted Him, and Jesus is the promised offspring, ruler and redeemer they rejected. For Jew and non-Jew alike, the only hope is repentance and wholehearted faith in Jesus. Stephen is killed, and persecution follows. Yet scattered believers carry Jesus’ witness into Judea and Samaria, showing that persecution cannot overturn God’s saving purpose.

Locked doors, threats and beatings cannot silence the apostles, who return to teaching that Jesus is the promised Saviour. Gamaliel, a respected Jewish teacher, warns the council that human movements fail, but work from God cannot be overthrown. Human effort cannot save anyone or establish God's kingdom. His saving purpose advances by the Holy Spirit, bringing peace amid suffering and warning that cautious delay can still leave a person opposing God. The fitting response is to seek His will and rest in His victory.

Pentecost begins with rushing wind, flames and many languages. Yet these signs point beyond themselves to the risen and exalted Jesus, who pours out the Spirit so His followers can carry His witness worldwide. The Spirit does not create a special class of Christians or depend on manufactured experiences. He lives within all who truly believe, helps them resist sin and serve Christ, and guarantees the glory still to come. His power appears as the church shares the gospel, prays for conversions and grows in holiness.

Jesus leaves His disciples with a worldwide task they cannot carry in their own strength. After proving He is alive, He promises the Holy Spirit and appoints the apostles as unique witnesses to His suffering and resurrection. Until Jesus returns, His reign gives this mission urgency and hope.

People often reshape Jesus to fit their politics, ambitions, or personal preferences. Colossians 1 describes Him instead as the Son who created all things, holds them together, and reconciles sinners through His death.
