Even people with a loving home can carry a homesickness they cannot explain. Genesis 1 and 2 place humanity's first experience of God on His day of rest, amid harmony with God, one another, and creation. Sin broke this harmony and turned human life into exile. Jesus came to restore these broken bonds and is making all things new. True rest is found by knowing and enjoying God, rebuilding relationships, and caring wisely for His creation.

Persistent prayer can feel rude, especially when God already knows every need. Jesus tells His disciples to keep asking boldly, like a child tugging at a father's sleeve. That persistence makes sense only within a family. Through faith in Christ, believers are adopted as God's children and may come without pretence, while still honouring His majesty. Their Father is not a reluctant neighbour, genie, or employer, but gives what is truly best so His children can keep praying with trust.

Fear makes useful work feel like a burden, especially when the master seems harsh. Jesus pictures a king who leaves his servants money to use until he returns, correcting hopes that God's kingdom would appear immediately. The king rewards faithful service with generosity far beyond its earnings, while one servant hides his mina because he misunderstands the king. Jesus has already won the decisive victory, so His servants can wait patiently and spread the gospel without fearing every awkward mistake.

Possessions promise security, but they cannot hold back death. Jesus’ rich farmer builds larger barns for himself, yet he dies without being rich towards God, and his stored wealth cannot answer God’s final word. A man consumed by an inheritance dispute misses the King standing before him. Jesus gave up heaven’s riches and poured Himself out to rescue rich fools, so money, homes, work, and relationships can serve His kingdom and its lasting joy.

Respectable goodness can still conceal self-trust. Jesus contrasts a respected religious man who counts his record with a tax collector who simply asks God for mercy. The tax collector goes home forgiven because God's acceptance cannot be earned by goodness or secured through comparison. In God's holy presence, people see their sin and receive the free grace made possible through Jesus' life and death. That humility replaces contempt with patient prayer and love for people still far from God.

Peter and John race towards an empty tomb, caught between doubt and aching hope. Jesus appears alive behind locked doors, changing fearful disciples and confirming His authority because He died and rose as He said. His resurrection means death is temporary, yet people will rise either to life with God or eternity away from Him. Those who trust His work on the cross receive forgiveness and life with God. Turn from sin, speak with someone, and join a church that teaches the Bible.

Soldiers dress Jesus as a pretend king, unaware that their mockery speaks the truth. His apparent weakness becomes the power of the cross. By refusing to save Himself, Jesus saves His people from sin; through His death and resurrection, He restores them to God. His cry fulfils Psalm 22, and the torn temple curtain means God's presence can be with people again. Jesus offers forgiveness, freedom and restored life with God, inviting people to receive Him as Lord.

Crowds in Jerusalem welcome Jesus as king. Yet His arrival overturns every familiar picture of power: He accepts royal praise, rides a young donkey, and wins by being killed rather than killing His enemies. Jesus bears God’s judgement in His death, addressing the enemy beneath every political crisis: human sin. He will return in glory to bring lasting peace to creation, so receiving Him as Saviour also means living under Him as Lord.

Inviting someone to church brings outreach beyond one private conversation. In Acts 2, Christians gathered around the apostles’ teaching, prayer, shared meals and generous care, while the Lord added those being saved. Their love makes Jesus’ work visible, and the varied gifts of His people can reach someone in ways one friend cannot. A church gathering also sets aside daily noise so guests can hear God’s word and respond, while Christians trust God to save and keep praying and inviting.

A kind life alone cannot tell anyone who Jesus is or why they need Him. Evangelism uses words to announce that Jesus is God come in the flesh, while honestly naming human sin and its eternal punishment. Jesus took the punishment sinners deserved, and His resurrection on the third day proves He overcame sin and death. This news asks for a response: turn from unbelief, trust Jesus for forgiveness and eternal life, and return patiently when someone is not ready.
