What happens tomorrow shapes how people live today, especially when hardship makes escape seem attractive. Paul corrects the expectation that Jesus could return at any moment, saying rebellion and the revealing of the lawless man must come first. Satan will work through deception, but Jesus will destroy the lawless man when He appears and bring justice against evil. Until then, God remains present with His people, strengthening them to endure faithfully together.

A farmer scatters precious seed across hard paths, rocks, thorns and good soil, seeming wasteful to anyone who knows farming. Jesus is the generous sower, and the seed is the good news of His mission, life and death. His invitation reaches even those who do not receive it, while the soils describe responses rather than spiritual conditions people can create. Like the disciples who asked Jesus for understanding, people can come to Him honestly for help and renewal; His generosity takes root and produces generous lives.

Believing foreigners stood at the edge of worship, while scarred eunuchs feared they had no place among God’s people. Isaiah 56 promises eunuchs an enduring name and foreigners joy in God’s house, but temple greed continued to block genuine worshippers. Jesus replaces that temple with His risen body, so people everywhere may come to God through Him. God’s welcome must shape His church. That means moving beyond tolerance to make time for people who do not easily fit, welcoming and loving them as family.

Prayer can feel unanswered, and personal desires can narrow attention until God’s purpose disappears from view. Yet 1 John 5 grounds confidence in prayer, understanding and trust. God hears requests according to His will, helps His children see clearly, and protects them as they turn from ongoing sin. They are not sinless, but Christ forgives them, and gratitude for His love changes their attitude towards sin. Knowing God as truth frees them to reject idols and place their burdens in His sovereign hands.

Personal strength, knowledge and church membership cannot prove salvation. John points instead to new birth that produces belief in Jesus as God’s saving Son. Spiritual claims can sound loving, impressive, and widely accepted while leading people away from God. John therefore commands Christians to test every spirit by the truth about Jesus Christ, who truly came as God in human flesh. His full divinity and humanity are essential to His saving death on the cross. The Holy Spirit helps God’s people resist error, while the apostles’ New Testament witness provides the standard for truth. Christians should pursue that truth prayerfully and humbly, without mistaking popularity for God’s approval.

Love can feel like a heavy burden when time is short, energy is low, or other people have caused hurt. Jesus defines love by laying down His life, and His love moves believers from selfishness and hatred towards practical care for one another. Love acts by seeking another person’s good and meeting real needs, not merely offering kind words. God is greater than a guilty heart. His freely given Spirit confirms His work within His children and keeps changing them towards Christ’s patient, concerned, and self-giving love.
