Jesus meets disciples who worship while some still doubt, then declares that all authority belongs to Him. His rule does not cancel human responsibility; it gives their mission confidence and urgency. They must go, make disciples among all nations, baptise people into the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and teach obedience to Jesus. He does not send them alone. His promised presence sustains everyday witness, patient teaching and prayer for God to save others.

Two sons want their father’s wealth without truly loving him. The younger son runs away and ruins himself, while the obedient older son stays home yet trusts his moral record to secure what he wants. The father welcomes the returning son and tenderly pleads with the angry one, showing that both rebellion and self-righteousness leave people lost. Jesus is the faithful older brother who pays the full cost to bring sinners into God’s family. Both kinds of lost children can stop ruling themselves and come home.

Work can give deep satisfaction, yet it can also become the measure of a person's worth. Work was never meant to carry that weight. God gave Adam the garden to work before sin made labour painful, and He still gives people abilities to develop creation and serve others. People can seek fitting work by noticing what moves them, testing their abilities honestly, and considering the opportunities God provides. Work remains a good servant, not a lord, because identity in Christ brings humility in success and stability in failure or unemployment.

Death takes people from those they love. Present suffering exposes how incomplete life remains, while morality alone cannot answer the human need for hope. Christian hope rests on Jesus' physical resurrection, not a moral symbol or vague spiritual survival. His risen body assures believers that their future with God will be personal, certain, and more than recovering what sin and death destroyed. When Christ returns, He will raise and transform them, remove condemnation and temptation, perfect their character, and bring them into fuller knowledge and restored life.

Wanting to do what is right can expose a painful split: God’s law is good, yet sin keeps pulling the other way. Paul’s struggle in Romans 7 ends with rescue, not condemnation, because Jesus has broken sin’s lasting power and the Spirit gives new freedom. Holiness usually grows over time. Christians rest in belonging to Christ while actively resisting the old self, trusting God to finish His work when Christ returns.

Painful experiences with earthly fathers can make God's fatherly love hard to trust. Humanity lost fellowship with God through sin and became enslaved, but God sent His Son to restore that broken relationship. Through faith in Christ, God not only forgives guilt but adopts people as His children, giving them full honour and inheritance. His Spirit confirms that they belong to Him. They can approach their Father freely in heartfelt prayer, trusting His perfect care even when circumstances remain hard.

Peter withdrew from Gentile Christians because he feared people who made Jewish customs a test of acceptance. Paul confronts this separation because no one is made right with God by keeping the law, but only through faith in Christ. Jesus paid sin's penalty on the cross, freeing sinners from condemnation. This grace changes more than outward behaviour by removing self-ranking and freeing Christians to obey God, love across social divisions, and live by faith in Christ.

A respectable young man wants eternal life, yet walks away sad when Jesus asks him to surrender his wealth. Conversion means turning from sin in repentance and turning to Christ in faith, though the sacrifice Jesus requires differs from person to person. Christ's cross tells of God's rescuing love, while promised joy gives a stronger motive than guilt for following Him.

When public debates stir anger and helplessness, the urge to win can turn people into harsh judges. In John 8, Jesus exposes men who use a guilty woman as bait while ignoring their own sin and unjust motives. He neither excuses her adultery nor permits their hypocrisy. Jesus alone judges rightly, yet He took His people's punishment Himself. His mercy frees them to examine their motives, speak with gentleness and respect, pray for their world, and rest in His rule.

Entitlement makes people demand good things from God and others, then grow harsh, proud and selfish when expectations go unmet. At a religious leader’s meal, Jesus heals a suffering man on the Sabbath and exposes rules used to justify loveless hearts. He then overturns the scramble for honour and calls hosts to serve people who cannot repay them. Grace changes the whole calculation. Jesus gave His life to pay for undeserving people’s sin, so they can take the humble place, love freely and serve without expecting a return.
