Nicodemus knows Scripture and respects Jesus, yet he cannot see God's kingdom without new birth. God cleanses sin, gives a new heart, and shares Jesus' resurrection life through the Holy Spirit. This change comes from above. Like the wind, the Spirit works with mysterious and irresistible power, leaving no room for pride and giving real security. As the good news of Christ crucified and risen is heard, God awakens faith that sees Jesus as King and trusts Him for eternal life.

Expensive perfume fills a Bethany home six days before Jesus dies. Mary honours His coming burial, while disciples see wasted money and miss what He has repeatedly told them about His suffering. Jesus defends her timely devotion and makes His coming death the centre of this moment. Because Jesus gives Himself for sinners, His people can listen closely to Scripture, keep His death and resurrection central, and express grateful love through generous service.

A life can look devoted to Christ on Sunday while chasing other sources of worth all week. The Lord’s Supper declares deep fellowship with Christ. Sharing His table therefore cannot fit with serving idols. God’s gifts may be enjoyed thankfully, but freedom should stop where it encourages another person’s idolatry or hides God’s glory. Jesus gave up heaven’s riches for sinners, and His self-giving example teaches His people to seek others’ salvation rather than their own advantage.

Christians can say they follow Jesus while disagreeing sharply about who He is and what He has done. Scripture joins heartfelt belief in His resurrection to the spoken confession that Jesus is Lord and truly God. Creeds gather sound teaching so it can be studied, taught to children, and protected from error. They do not create living faith. The Holy Spirit keeps believers centred on God's word and enables them to confess Christ, their Saviour and only comfort.

Suffering can leave people panicked, isolated, or carrying regret over their own choices. Psalm 31 gives that pain an honest voice before the God who sees distress, hears cries for help, and holds every life in His hands. Jesus entered this sorrow and committed His spirit to the Father, then was forsaken so His people never will be. His death and resurrection defeat sin, death, and Satan, grounding courageous trust in God's goodness through every hardship.

Evil can make God seem silent, especially when injustice grows and His answer appears to bring even more suffering. Habakkuk speaks with anguished honesty, yet he keeps praying because God remains his only hope. Faith does not walk away. God warns that Babylon will bring judgement, a work Habakkuk cannot understand. The cross gives the clearest reason to trust Him: through the injustice and judgement Jesus endured, God paid sin's debt and brought salvation from evil.

A road can look right while carrying someone towards the wrong destination. Psalm 1 pictures the righteous as a fruitful tree rooted beside water, while the wicked are like weightless chaff driven away. Yet no one fully matches the blessed person who always flees sin and delights in God's word. Jesus alone lived that righteous life and bore sin on the cross. Those who confess their sin and depend on His righteousness can walk with God, delight in His word, and grow through His sustaining grace.

Romans 12 calls Christians not to copy the world, but to let God renew their minds so they can recognise His good will. That change takes a lifetime. In Christ, the Spirit removes the veil, and God's Word tests counterfeit ideas while shaping faithful action.

Running from God left Jonah sinking beneath the sea, with no way to save himself. God appointed a great fish, not to pay Jonah back, but to bring His rebellious prophet back. From inside it, Jonah confessed his false worship, cried to God, and learned that salvation belongs to the Lord. Jesus entered the deeper pit of death for guilty sinners and rose again, so shame need not keep anyone away. Turn to God with humility and confidence in His undeserved grace.

Anxiety grows when Christians measure God's love by their performance, failures, or lingering sin. Ephesians 1 grounds their security elsewhere: God chose His people before creation, is making them holy, and adopted them through Jesus' sacrifice because He loved them. God does more than choose and improve them. As His children, they work at holiness while trusting Him to complete the change. Grateful prayer and lifelong praise answer such fatherly love.
