CLAIRVOYANCE
She's sweet. She's lovable. She's filled with artistic expression beloved by the masses. At least, that's what I'm picking up from psychic medium, theatre artist, and host of the "Sweetheart Soul Sessions" podcast Andrea S. 9 years ago, she came to terms with her gifts for clairvoyance. Of course, chakra-deep empathy coursing through her veins at the frequency of 5G isn't quite something she's been able to "shake off." (To all of T. Swift's "Squad" members...please don't hurt Greg). Andrea shares the origins of her abilities, how they've influenced those around her and because Greg can't help but ask, she gives us all the juicy details. Greg's fortune is told, pandemics are predicted, and yes, podcast fans, there's even murder. "My favorite, er,....sweet psychic episode that references murder." (Karen and Georgia...please don't hurt Greg). SPIRITUALITY
The Lotus Flowers are blooming, the thin veil of capitalism is breaking, and dead lions and hippos speak to our guest, Anna Cantwell, a soul coach with a lot of wisdom to share. The question is, am I talking to a human being...or am I simply chatting it up with a (sshhh!) vessel of wisdom? Anna makes Greg realize he's spiritual. Anna tells us one of the wildest things a non-human creature has ever told her. Anna also is a delightful human, so obviously Greg questions it. She dishes the real story. And throughout it all...she glows. Is Greg obsessed with finding the darkness in seemingly content people? Yes. He has to wonder, will he ever glow? He's not sure by the end but Greg is sure of one thing: Listen to this episode if you want to glow. EASTERN PHILOSOPHY
Ever ride a bicycle and see a full-body apparition of your grandma? Gary's been there. He's doing a podcast about those types of experiences and all manner of experts in the weird. Host of Everything Imaginable, Gary Cocciolillo joins Greg to deconstruct his entire belief system. Greg forces Gary to spill the beans: Does reading Tarot without special powers make you a fraud? Are most life coaches, spiritual teachers and psychics just plain wrong? Is Zen Buddhism full of crap, even though he wrote a book on it? Does Greg make Gary sweat like Prince Andrew at his hardball questions? Listen to find out.... It's a gloriously good time. BURLESQUE
Moxie LaBouche knows facts that are about as random as her career trajectory. She's going to tell you all about those things. She can't stop. Among other roles, she's a podcast host and author (yourbrainonfacts.com), voice-over artist, former goat farmer, TED talk speaker, and with a name like that, wouldn't you guess? A burlesque performer. She puts Greg in trance with her flow of information in the same way her husband put George R.R. Martin in a trance when he removed his boxer briefs. Yup. It's in this episode. Moxie and Greg delve into sideshow entertainment, hating Scottish surnames for little girls, and groundhog blood on your nephew. And weirdly enough, that's less than a 1/10th of what's covered. Rachel Switlick is a performance artist/self defense practitioner but more than those two things, she's MORE than those two things. Why should you care? Rachel will tell you. And if you don't believe her, she'll gently persuade you into believing her without necessarily kicking your booty while she does it. We talk about all of that, including: -Should you manipulate people to become better versions of themselves as a personal project? -Rachel's Solar System simile for succinct substantive social success! -Rachel and John Slattery sitting in a tree? This is a great Back-To-School episode. In that Rachel schools Greg quite a few times. Pull out your notebooks and listen close. RELIGION
The opinions of the guests of the Open Loops Podcast do not reflect those of the host. But dang, those opinions sure are interesting. David Daniel Gonzalez, Host of Mystic-Skeptic Radio Show/Podcast with David Daniel Gonzalez, joins Greg in holy loopdom to discuss all things spiritual and scientific. Find out: Has the "mystical" led to some of the most destructive groups in human history? How dismissive should we be of the supernatural? What is Christian hedonism? Is it possible to casually use the word "parallelomania" in conversation? Take a guess. David Daniel Gonzalez is a radio host, producer and researcher who explores diverse topics such as alternative history, ancient mysteries and the Bible. He's an author of several books in the Raiders of the Unknown series, including Demonology of Ancient Israel: The truth about demons, possession and exorcism, Heirs of the Kingdom: Jewish-Christianity's Relationship to Second Temple Judaism, and The Messiah Son of Ephraim: & The Gabriel Revelation Tablet. Andrew R. Chow, Annabel Gutterman, Katy Steinmetz wrote a Time Magazine article called, “45 New Books You Need to Read This Summer.” I have no interest in reading most of these books. CONTEMPORARY AMERICA
Yes, we talkin' big bucks. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. How much can you Venmo Sarah to stop working? What weird New York encounters happen regularly on Greg's first dates? Will you take the vaccine? Will you? Please do. If it's safe. Is it safe to take the vaccine? We're talking to actress, model, friend, roommate, and perpetual big sister in an about that is safe to score with Afroman's "Because I Got High." Also, Greg learns it's not called a Nativity Chart. Do you have what it takes to marry an opera singer? Does anyone ever want to actually see a Zoom performance of anyone? What made Greg cry besides learning he was too heteronormative while recording this episode? High school best friend, the Beauty to his 8th Grade Beast (yes, they did that musical together) and award-winning opera singer Kirsten Scott joins Greg for a conversation that mixes the heights of notes in Puccini with the facial hair depths of Pavarotti.
