Open the Voice Gate

Welcome back to Open the Voice Gate! Case (https://twitter.com/_inyourcase) and Mike (https://twitter.com/fujiiheya) are back with an update on the comings and goings of Dragongate.

Closing out 2020, Mike and Case start the show talking about the passing of Brodie Lee/John Huber, memories of him in Dragon Gate and Dragongate USA including his top matches in the Dragon System and the public response they’ve seen from the roster upon hearing the news. They discuss the 12/27 “fan appreciation” Kobe Sambo Hall show where Dragongate did another bold thing and ended the dang three way generational war in Kobe on their last show of the year, this Natural Vibes reunion, and everything else on DG’s last show of 2020. Closing out the show, Case drops a Prime Zone recommendation, Mike gives a history of Super Shenlongs in DG and much more!

Super Shisa vs Shingo Takagi from Prime Zone can be viewed on the Dragongate Network here: https://dragongate.live/title/?program=dgstudio_vol06&episode=1

CIMA vs Mochizuki main-evented Final Gate 2012 with one of Case and Mike’s favorite clips in Dragon System history. Cyber Kong leaves Mad Blankey, does some stand-up and Mike quizzes Case on how many units he was in. The climax of Naoki Tanizaki vs Imposter Naoki is upon us!

After that, they get into Revolt 2013, one of the more controversial shows in OTVG history with the Open the Freedom Gate NO ROPES match between Johnny Gargano and Jon Davis, the Young Bucks vs Susumu/SaiRyo and a beer pong match? It was a weird show.

If November 2020 was the biggest month in recent Dragon System history, then the first week of December was the busiest, as Case and Mike breakdown and review Dragongate’s 12/2 Korauken show, the tripleheader in Sapporo from 12/4 to 12/6, and the home base show from Kobe Sambo Hall on 12/8. Huge things are afoot as DG looks to finish the year strong as we get the forming of a new unit, a big heel turn and elevations, and the Generational War comes to a head with an enormous match made for Final Gate. As well, Case and Mike grapple with what exactly a Royal Sambo is, and what is exactly the family tree of Dragons within the Dragon System!
