Open the Voice Gate

Welcome back to Open the Voice Gate - Rewind and Rewatch, where Case (https://twitter.com/_inyourcase) and Mike (https://twitter.com/fujiiheya) are Rewinding and Rewatching the Dragon Gate USA era of shows.

This episode covers Enter the Dragon 2010, Dragon Gate USA’s 1st Year anniversary on July 24, 2010 at the The Arena in Philadelphia. It’s an incredibly stacked show with sudden return of Bryan Danielson to DGUSA as he took on Shingo Takagi along with the blowoff for Kamikaze USA vs Chikara Sekigun. Case and Mike take a look at the big two months between DGUSA’s Canadian shows and their anniversary show, which includes why Danielson was back on the indies and appearing for DGUSA, Kobe World 2010, and so much more. The episode concludes with the pair trying to figure out where they put Enter the Dragon 2010 on the pantheon of DGUSA shows, and if they saw the best match in DGUSA to that point!

This episode covers Open the Northern Gate, from Windsor, Ontario, Canada on May 7, 2010 at the Windsor Armoury. As Dragon Gate USA refused to treat this disappointing sojourn as a B-Show, OTVG refuses to as well as Case and Mike broke down the news and events between Mania Weekend 2010 and the May 7th show, including some big indie happenings, another departure from the DGUSA universe and the 2010 editions of King of Gate and Dead or Alive. After that, they review a very weird but very fun show with the conclusion of the Dragon Kid and Masato Yoshino storyline, the DGUSA debuts of PAC and Akira Tozawa, the reintroduction of Johnny Gargano to the DGUSA audience, and much much more!

The Open the Northern Gate awkward YouTube video we talked about is included at the end of the show or can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2bAHOrm9mI

This episode covers night two of DGUSA’s first Wrestlemania Weekend of shows in 2010 from Phoenix, Arizona, as on 3/27/2010 they held Mercury Rising 2010. It’s time for the “Dragon Gate 6 Man Tradition!” On this episode, Case and Mike talk about the DGUSA farewells for several wrestlers, a very much unneeded ECW legend appearance, the worst hour of DGUSA to date including the most off rails promo in DGUSA history, the first ever Open the Dream Gate title match outside of Japan, and also random tangents about Magnitude Kishikawa, Osaka Pro and a bunch more.

Welcome back to Open the Voice Gate - Rewind and Rewatch, where Case (https://twitter.com/_inyourcase) and Mike (https://twitter.com/fujiiheya) are Rewinding and Rewatching the Dragon Gate USA era of shows.

It is time to go to Phoenix for DGUSA’s Wrestlemania 2010 weekend of shows and Open the Ultimate Gate 2010 on March 26th, 2010 from Celebrity Theater.

But that’s not all we need to do, first it’s time to bring the Ballad of Davey Richards to a close and provide the most in-depth look into the fallout of Davey Richards’ departure from DG/WWN back to ROH possible. Case and Mike tie this into the overall build to this weekend, including talking about ROH and DGUSA Drama, the Compilation Gate 2010 Dragon Gate show from Sumo Hall, the Young Bucks pending departure from DGUSA, and a special appearance by one of 1990’s favorite American sitcom dads.

After that, OTVG reviews Ultimate Gate 2010, where Mike and Case have surprisingly divergent opinions on DGUSA’s first ever Mania offering, some takes on what might be the new Worst Match in DGUSA history, thoughts on the Special Appearance, and a review of a double main event featuring BxB Hulk defending the Open the Freedom Gate against Naruki Doi and a six-man tag of the Warriors team of CIMA, Gamma and Dragon Kid versus the Young Bucks and Jack Evans.

For those looking for a time-stamp, the news timeline starts at 03:28, and the Ultimate Gate review begins at 52:23.

It’s time for a very special edition of Open the Voice Gate! Case (https://twitter.com/_inyourcase) and Mike (https://twitter.com/fujiiheya) are joined by Jae (https://twitter.com/DragonGateEN & https://twitter.com/dg_jae) in a conversation talking all things Dragongate. The topics vary from native fans thoughts on the new generation of wrestlers, the vintage footage on the Dragongate Network, how it was to be in Korakuen Hall for the Toryumon Reunion, and the state of Japanese wrestling over the last few months given the pandemic. A really fun hour plus, and it was an absolute pleasure to have Jae stop by the show!

If you’d like to support Dragongate during this crisis, the best things you can do are subscribe to the Dragongate Network (https://dragongate.live/), buy online sales from the promotion (https://shop.dg-pro.jp/), or buy and listen to Dragongate Records themes on the music platform of your choice.

Welcome to 2010 in our retrospective series where Case and Mike review DGUSA’s Fearless 2010 show from the Congress Theater in Chicago on January 23rd, 2010. But before that, there’s a ton of timeline news and notes between both happenings in Dragongate Japan and USA with Davey Richards’ only DG tour happening before this show, the first FIP Championship match between Davey and Masaaki Mochizuki, the no good very bad Final Gate 2009 show, and much more.

After that, it’s time to review Fearless 2010 where we give our in-ring farewell to Davey Richards in the series, talk about 2010 DGUSA angles that really don’t work in 2020, the winding down of the Young Bucks’ first run in DGUSA, Hulk defending the Freedom Gate against Dragon Kid, and the debut of the CIMA go home speech where he gets 450 people in 2010 to chant for Gamma.

Welcome back to Open the Voice Gate - Rewind and Rewatch, where Case (https://twitter.com/_inyourcase) and Mike (https://twitter.com/fujiiheya) are Rewinding and Rewatching the Dragon Gate USA era of shows.

In this third show, Case and Mike review “Open the Untouchable Gate” from Chicago on November 28th, 2009. In order to do so, they catch up everyone with what was going on at that time with Dragongate and DGUSA, then break down the show. It’s time for Dragon Gate USA to crown their first ever Open the Freedom Gate Championship and to do so, we have a somewhat convoluted 14 wrestler one night tournament to do so. Case and Mike give their thoughts on the show, Davey Richard’s latest dumb jock match, what happens when CIMA meets Mike Quackenbush in the ring, and their thoughts of DGUSA’s first champion, BxB Hulk.
