The Opposition has reflected on Australia's participation in the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) as largely positive, but has urged the federal government to finalise a $500 million new agreement with Vanuatu.
Yesterday Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined Pacific leaders on Solomon Islands, where a landmark treaty to establish a resilience fund for Pacific nations hit by the impacts of climate change was signed.
It comes as Mr Albanese prepares to announce a new 2035 emissions target next week.
