Orange Lounge Radio

Discord is in the spotlight this week, not just for being integrated officially into the Playstation 5 this week, but also for some controversial future plans involving AI. We talk about AI for a little bit and how it's already used in the gaming industry, where it might lead in the future, and any problems or issues we see with this "suddenly it's everywhere" latest term in gaming. What might this mean for the future of Discord? We discuss this and much more news on another week of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio!

It is observed that in the credits of the recently released Metroid Prime Remaster for Nintendo Switch, that the former staff that worked on the original game is credited under one blanket credit, and not as individuals. Does it really matter when most people skip the credits anyway? We talk about video game credits, including memorable ones from the past, and where this might go for the video game industry based on stories like this one and more. All this, our gaming weeks, and much more round out another episode of Orange Lounge Radio, the longest running video game podcast!

E3 appears to be moving forward without the big 3, as a rumor this week has come up (that the ESA has now responded to) stating that Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will not be appearing at the show this year as it returns under ReedPop's supervision. However, could Microsoft be collaborating with someone else to put on a new kind of tech show in Los Angeles? We discuss the rumors and the facts and try to read what might be coming this summer in gaming. Microsoft had a Developer Direct this week, which included the surprise release of Hi-Fi Rush, an action game set to the beat of music. Basically, it's Beatonetta. Or Devil May Dance. Whatever you wan to call it, we give our impressions of this game. We also talk about the perception of the Direct in the gaming community, and if people set their expectations at an unreasonable level for what Microsoft had to say. Unfortunately, with major tech industry layoffs this week, the game industry was not immune to having layoffs within it as well. We know 343 Studios at Microsoft was impacted, as well as many other places throughout the industry. We talk about this and why it could be happening now, but also try to have a positive outlook on how the industry really takes care of their own. Best of luck to anyone impacted by this sad news. Changes to YouTube policies effected many gaming content creators this week. Is it right to change the rules that were in place for so long and retroactively apply them to content that has been made? YouTube isn't the only company being faced with this question this week, as Wizards of the Coast makes controversial changes to Dungeons and Dragons that have people concerned for the future. D&D has inspired many video games, so we update ourselves on this controversy and what it could mean for a larger industry. All this, our gaming weeks, and much more on another week of the show where every gamer has a voice, Orange Lounge Radio!
