If you listened to some of our other podcast you'll know I'm doing the Leadman series of events this year. So aside of what we hope to provide for our listener interest, I have my own personal agenda that is really digging all the info I'm learning about tackling this 5 part event. It's been extra exciting to have the founders of the Leadville Race Series, nutritionist, sports psychologist, coaches, and today my buddy Don Reichelt, a recent Leadman finisher and endurance coach on the podcast. In this episode we're going to dig into the sport of endurance for those that are looking to get into it or step up their distance a bit. Don has been racing ultras for a couple years now, but tackled Leadman without even being a mountain biker until about 6 months before it, yet still rocked it with style. That sounds crazy, but I'm sure many of you have had a similar entry of diving in head first, then figuring it out in route.

Two new events are the Grand Junction Off Road, and the Carson City Off Road event. Listen in to learn more about his amazing events and the sport of mountain biking.

Today on the show we have someone who I believe is the most well rounded athlete, business person, charity driven, and motivational person on the planet and her name is Robyn Benincasa out of Southern California. I first met Robyn about 10 years ago when I was racing with her brother Jack London in a ton of adventure races. Robyn is the crazy sister that we idolized as she was always a long ways ahead of us in any event that we were in together. She became a world champion adventure racer on team Nike, Merrel, and Earthlink, and has taken top finishes in the Eco Challenge, Primal Quest, and other top adventure races across the globe. In addition she holds world records for endurance paddling via stand up paddle board and kayaking, is a 10x Ironman finisher, twice on the podium, Judo National Champion, award winning motivational speaker, firefighter, and founder of Project Athena.

Welcome to another episode on the Orange Mud Endurance Channel! Paul Jesse, Sales Manager at Orange Mud, and myself, Josh Sprague, Founder and CEO of Orange Mud, will be here your host today. We're super excited to have founders, Ken Chlouber and Merilee Maupin of the Leadville Race Series.
For those that don't know, the Leadville Race Series consists of a 100 mile endurance run, 100 mile endurance ride, 10k trail run, heavy half marathon, trail marathon, 50 mile trail run, and a 50 mile bike. The Leadville Trail 100 Run is what started it all, and is an ultramarathon held annually that traverses the trails and dirt roads near Leadville, Colorado. Founded in 1983, runners this ultra climb and descend almost 16k feet in elevations ranging from 9,200 to 12,620 feet. Generally the completion rate is less than 50% within the 30 hour time limit. Needless to say, it's a tough event.

Nickademus Hollon started racing in High School. Not just 5k's or track like most of us, he ran 100 miles once in high school too! We dug into training tips, lifting in support of running and activating muscles, Barkley, Badwater, Tor des Geants, Fat Dog, and some other amazing races that he's tackled or will be tackling soon like the Double Brutal.

Many people know of Craig from being the race director of the Western States 100. But many don't know that he is also the co founder of the Waldo 100k, an accomplished rock climber, has an insane one mile speed record, and is running in the WS100 this year as well as racing in it. We had a lot of fun picking his brain about the event history, growth, challenges and more, plus had some fun learning who Mr. Lord Balls is and where in the world that name came from. You might even learn something about bloody nipples in this one.
