Hate Floats is an important episode because it sets up the main conflict of season 2, and establishes the Monarch as the second protagonist of the series. The Monarch, having just escaped from jail, sets about putting his operation back together and attempting to get Dr. Girlfriend back from the transparent arms of Phantom Limb. And it just so happens that Rusty and the boys get caught in the crossfire of a conflict that has nothing to do with them.
