今回はオーマのプレゼン「スーパー銭湯」です♨️

銭湯にも色々ありますが、スーパー銭湯となると話は別。設備の充実ぶり、個性派コンテンツの豊かさ、そして「どこに行くか」を選ぶ喜びが出てくるわけです。

さてどんな深い話が飛び出るかと思いきや……気づいたらお互いの個人的な趣向についてのらりくらりと語らう時間になっていました。深みに潜る前に湯船でゆっくりしてしまった感じです。

This episode features Ohma's presentation: the super sento ♨️

Regular public baths are one thing — but step up to the super sento and suddenly you're dealing with a whole different level of facilities, personality, and the genuine joy of choosing where to go.

So how deep does this rabbit hole go? As it turned out: not that deep, at least not this time. The two of them ended up drifting along at a leisurely pace, trading personal preferences back and forth without ever quite diving under the surface. Appropriately relaxing, really — like lingering too long in a warm bath before getting to the serious stuff.

A follow-up with more depth is in the works, so stay tuned for that. For now, sit back and soak it in 🛁

お持ちいただいたのは一冊の本——井上陽水英訳詩集。……なんやそれ！

ロバート・キャンベルによって英語に訳された陽水の歌詞たち。翻訳というフィルターを通した瞬間に何かが変わる、あるいは逆に何かが浮かび上がってくる。主語も状況も曖昧なまま、それでも聴き手を惹きつけ続ける井上陽水という作家の正体に、英訳というプロセスから迫ります。

結局、わかったのかわからなかったのか……まあ、それはそれ😅

でも惹きつけられる本との出会いって、理屈じゃないですよね。本屋さんで見かけたらぜひ手に取ってみてください！

This episode features a guest presentation from Mumusa no Pino of #LowTenantRadio (#ローテナントのラジオ局)!

And what did he bring? A single book — an English translation of Yosui Inoue's song lyrics. ...Wait, what?

Translated into English by Robert Campbell, the collection takes the words of one of Japan's most beloved singer-songwriters and runs them through a completely different language. The moment the translation happens, something shifts — or maybe something else rises to the surface instead. Inoue's lyrics are famous for their ambiguity: no clear subject, no defined situation, and yet utterly captivating. What does that look like when rendered in English?

Did Mako and his guest actually figure it out? Honestly, kind of yes, kind of no 😅

But that's the thing about a book that pulls you in — it doesn't need to explain itself. If you spot it in a bookshop, pick it up!
