***From the start (Desde el comienzo)***

No correspondida, aterrada

What's up Hivers! I hope you are fine. This time I want to share with you my participation in Vibes Web 3 Music Competition, this time I bring you a new format: this is my first cover singing and playing ukulele 👀.

The truth is that I've never considered myself to be a good singer, but it's been a long time since I've participated in Vibes because I've had little access to my drums at the moment, and honestly I missed uploading covers, so I decided to learn this song that I like so much in a more accessible and transportable instrument.

The ukele is also an instrument that I started to learn on my own 3 months ago thanks to a friend who lent me her instrument, so both playing this instrument and showing my voice on the internet is something new for me (so please be kind haha).

The song I chose is “From the start” by Laufey, it's a song that I really like, I love the melody and the bossa rhythm it has, I'm sure you know it because it was very popular a few months ago. If you want to sing it or see what it's about, here are the lyrics 😉

***From the start***

*Don't you notice how

I get quiet when there's no one else around?

Me and you and awkward silence

Don't you dare look at me that way

I don't need reminders of how you don't feel the same*

*Oh, the burning pain

Listening to you harp on 'bout some new soulmate

"She's so perfect," blah, blah, blah

Oh, how I wish you'll wake up one day

Run to me, confess your love, at least just let me say*

*That when I talk to you

Oh, Cupid walks right through

And shoots an arrow through my heart

And I sound like a loon

But don't you feel it, too?

Confess I loved you from the start*

*What's a girl to do?

Lying on my bed staring into the bluе

Unrequited, terrifying

Lovе is driving me a bit insane

Have to get this off my chest, I'm telling you today*

*That when I talk to you

Oh, Cupid walks right through

And shoots an arrow through my heart

And I sound like a loon

But don't you feel it, too?

Confess I loved you from the start*

*Confess I loved you

Just thinking of you

I know I've loved you from the start*

Today I want to share with you a cover playing 'American Idiot', one of the most famous songs of the band Green Day.

In this song the band expresses a strong concern and disgust at how today's politicians and the media tell us what to do, what to buy and what to believe. It is one of their most iconic and powerful songs to date.

> *Don't wanna be an American idiot

Don't want a nation under the new media

And can you hear the sound of hysteria?

The subliminal mindfuck America

Welcome to a new kind of tension

All across the alien nation

Where everything isn't meant to be okay

In television dreams of tomorrow

We're not the ones who're meant to follow

For that's enough to argue

Well, maybe I'm the faggot, America

I'm not a part of a redneck agenda

Now everybody, do the propaganda

And sing along to the age of paranoia

Welcome to a new kind of tension

All across the alien nation

Where everything isn't meant to be okay

In television dreams of tomorrow

We're not the ones who're meant to follow

For that's enough to argue

Don't wanna be an American idiot

One nation controlled by the media

Information age of hysteria

It's calling out to idiot America

Welcome to a new kind of tension

All across the alien nation

Where everything isn't meant to be okay

In television dreams of tomorrow

We're not the ones who're meant to follow

For that's enough to argue*

I grew up loving rock and this is a band that I have loved since I was a child, today I feel great to be able to play their songs on the drums.

I hope you like this cover and tell me what you think, also tell me if you are also fans of Green Day and if so what is your favorite song? Would you like to see another cover of this band? Tell me in the comments!

Without further ado, I wish you a happy week and see you soon, good vibes!

ENGLISH

Today is April 30th a very special day because we celebrate the International Jazz Day! A musical genre that has been gaining an increasingly important role throughout my career as a musician.

While studying instrumental performance at university, I had to learn to listen and play various genres, such as joropo, onda nueva, merengue and many more. However, jazz is the genre that is most emphasized in my career, as it is considered one of the most difficult to play.

In every semester, my teacher included 10 to 20 exercises related to jazz in the syllabus, and throughout my career we delved deeper and deeper into the genre. This made me learn to listen to it and feel more and more comfortable with it.

To graduate as a musician from UNEARTE, I had to perform a graduation recital in which at least two of the repertoire pieces had to be jazz. For my recital, I chose one of the most commercial jazz standards, "TAKE 5" by Dave Brubeck, one of the first jazz pieces that I liked and listened to a lot in several movies.

The curious thing about "TAKE 5" is that it is a swing in 5/4, an irregular time signature. Most music is written in binary figures, but "TAKE 5" is a very popular piece written in 5, hence its name.

To celebrate this year's International Jazz Day, I want to share with you a fragment of my graduation recital, where I play "TAKE 5" together with my friend and excellent pianist Jesús Milano, whom I had the pleasure of meeting at university and playing with him in my recital.

The video was recorded by Enrique Salgado and the audio was handled by Brayan Zapata, both excellent people and professionals who helped me make my graduation recital possible.

I hope you enjoy our interpretation of this standard and leave me a comment about what you thought. Happy Jazz Day!

What's up Hivers! Today I finally bring you a DRUM COVER of the song Uptown Funk, to participate in VIBES Web 3 Music Competition, the contest that is attracting a lot of musicians to Hive 😁.

I chose this song because it's good, simple and catchy. It's without a doubt one of the biggest hits Bruno Mars has had in his career and it's a song I think we all know.

A few years ago I taught it to one of my students and I hadn't played it on drums since. I literally went through it and recorded it in just an hour, but I thought it was pretty good for such a quick turnaround.

This week I was so busy with work and looking for a new residence, that for a moment I thought I wouldn't have time to upload this cover for the contest, but in the end I made it and I'm happy to dedicate part of my time to record these videos, which I really enjoy doing.

I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think, good vibes!
