Mushishi, by Yuki Urushibara is the topic of tonight’s OSMcast_!_ And it’s definitely awesome. But don’t take our word for it! … Well, actually _do _take our word for it, but listen to us talk abut why first!
Really you should go buy a copy of Mushishi in one form or another right now. Though you’ll probably have to special order it. But that’s okay because this manga and anime _is _pretty special.
In that good way, not that short bus special or anything.
So go git it.
Like, now.
Go!
Okay so for the past two weeks we’ve skipped out on the World of OSM… And it kind of built to a great big pile of stuff that needed to be caught up to. So here it is!
So we talked about this stuff (more or less):
Yeah, it was a lot of stuff.
And we’re back! This week DJ Inubito and Basil talk about Nerdapalooza 2008 and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
OSMnotes
So it sounds like Nerdapalooza 2008 was pretty bad ass! If you want to check out CSHC with our man DJ Inubito on the plates, check out their YouTube page.
And like we said, MGS4 is gosh darn awesome. And you do end up feeling pretty bad for Old Snake sometimes, when they make fun of him for being old and his Psych meter goes down in the saddest noise possible.
So how about that “On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness” stuff eh guys and gals?
Pretty good stuff! You should totally buy it. Or at least try the demo. You could also go buy Commando 3 on the XBLA while you’re at it so you can try the new SFII: HD Remix beta going on. Or Space Invaders Extreme!
I will _triumph! _
In this episode we decided that box anime is cool. And by “box anime” we mean, “Kekkaishi.” Also, ice cream.
Okay so admittedly I _just _beat MGS4, so at the moment I’m busy going “OMG MGS4 MGS4!!!! ” therefore _actual _show notes aren’t exactly on my mind. Though I am sad to find out the Wal-Mart sale is apparently already over so… oops. Hopefully those of you out there will have _already _realized this deal and have bought one!
The rest of you should follow my lead and steal I mean _borrow _them from all your friends that just obtained those PS3s and play Metal Gear Solid 4 on them. I want to say that this new Metal Gear is good enough that you’ll want to buy a PS3 anyway, but I know that’s just the MGS fanboy in me and that overall the 360 is still
… Maybe.
Kekkaishi is also an awesome show and an even more awesome manga. You should go buy all of the manga now. They have 14 volumes so far out so you have plenty to catch up on!
Oh and email us (osmcast@gmail DOT com), comment, voice mail, let us know you exist, the usual.
Are you read for some unbridled passion as two souls burn brightly about Grand Theft Auto the Fourth? Well too bad we’ve already recorded it!
Though to be fair, we ended up playing Street Fighter III: Third Strike afterwards instead. Will there be another Inubito/Basil podcast about the upcoming Street Fighter TV once it releases? Oh yes. And who knows… since we only scratched the surface that is GTA IV, there may be another about GTA IV in the far flung future. For example if you wanted an in depth discussion on how Niko’s journey into America as an immigrant was portrayed in the game compared to how it is seen and actually is in America, well… We could do that.
Or we could talk about playing darts and going to strip clubs in the game. Whatever floats your boat.
And as always tell us about these things and your opinions in the comments section, send us an email (osmcast@gmail DOT com), or throw down a voice mail our way!
inubito on aim: holy shit 52:07. lolBasil on aim: NICE!inubito on aim: wrdBasil on aim: that’s just how we roll. lolinubito on aim: True that.
Tonight on the slightly delayed OSMcast_!_ we talk about Baccano! And it’s many, _many _crazy characters.
We also talk about Tokyopop’s current reshuffling as well as Rock Band’s attempt at taking over Japan.
But it’s mostly about Baccano(!).
And also beer.
But really Baccano(!).
In other news, we now have Promos! Check the sidebar to your right and check’em out!
In this episode of the OSMcast_!_ we plunge into the depths of the Cosmic Tribe Tarot set and explore the ruins of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Seriously guys, that tarot deck is pretty terrible. But don’t take my word for it! Check it out for yourself with this handy-dandy so very Not Work Safe link that shows the entire deck. And where you can order it from, if you know, naked dirty hippies are your thing. They say they’ve sold over 15,000 of them, so I’m guessing they can’t all be horrible accidents like our experience was. So yeah Stevee we bought your deck, and we came away unimpressed.
Oh, and that Indiana Jones flick. It was so totally a movie. Yeah.
And as always please comment, email us, let us know you exist. I know someone out there is downloading this stuff… somewhere!
THIS IS THE MOST METAL OMSCAST EVER THIS IS METAL EVERYTHING WE DO WILL NOW BE METAL
OSMnotesThe World of OSM games we talked about were Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes, Lost Winds, On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One, and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. The anime is Soul Eater, based on a manga by Atsushi Ohkubo and animated by BONES.
Sorry about the lack of Narnia once again, but we’ll make it up to you! But really guys, it is like “ Spinal Tap meets Scooby-Doo meets Norway.” Until next time awesome believers!
Tonight on the OSMcast! we go go go after the latest movie adaptation by The Wachowski Siblings, the Tatsunoko Production's classic anime hit Speed Racer.
OSMnotesAlso in case you hadn’t notice, Inubito thought the remix of the Speed Racer theme was so awesome, he included all of it. Be forewarned! Or not! However this does end creating our longest podcast ever _ . But anyway, seriously guys, there were parts of this movie that were _more awesome than Iron Man. Really. Not kidding! Though I _guess overall Iron Man is the better movie, it’s already made tons of money so go spend it on Speed Racer instead!
Next week we’ll hopefully if schedules allow be covering the new Narnia film, and possibly something else a little more… metal. Till then! Email us at [email protected], or just throw us some comments at the bottom of this post.
If you want more info on Mach Go Go Go / _ Speed Racer, check out these articles from scifijapan.com. It’s got some really cool stuff inside!
