At what point does a machine, with human-like characteristics, cease to be viewed as a machine? At that point, are we obligated to treat it as a human? Is it still an "it"? We try to answer these questions by watching Alex Garland's Ex Machina (2014). Excellent performances by Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander help drive the story in this amazing re-imagining of Shakespeare's The Tempest.

Its a Nic Cage explosion as we explore the actor's dual portrayals in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022). Nic Cage playing Nic Cage, invited by a fanboy to be Nic Cage. What's not to like?

We followed that up with Nic Cage playing  along side Nic Cage in the acclaimed, Adaptation (2002). The movie gets very, very meta, as it dives into the world of screen writing and the process of adaption. Plus, Orchids!

We tried again to prove that bad isn't as bad as you think, with our Rotten Tomatoes Challenge. This time, we took movies from the 20-29% percentiles, by watching Empire Records (1995), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and Basic (2003). 

These movies have their flaws and some dated references, but find out if they are better than what critics believed.

We watched the original summer blockbuster, Jaws (1975). Even as a first viewing for some, this movie still holds up. The terror and panic created by director Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams, is eerily prescient for its time.

Michael Bay is back! And he is ... still Michael Bay. We watched his latest action adventure, Ambulance (2022), and it was unmistakably Michael Bay. Was it good? Was it bad? It was Bay. We also watched Ambulance star Jake Gyllenhaal in a Brade Bargain Bin selection, Prisoners (2013). A solid performance from Gyllenhaal and others, with excellent direction from Denis Villeneuve. You don't want to miss a thing!
